That's just the preference of some people. And it does help draw in people who might not attend otherwise. Everyone worships their own way, there's no way that more biblical or correct than another, it's just a matter of the church members taste. I personally think it's great, I don't like it when a church operates exactly the same way it did 100 years ago. But other people like that, and that's ok, but I just feel contemporary music connects with me more and makes the church seem less "religious" and removes the stuffy, uptight atmosphere some churches have.

The switch was made following customer satisfaction surveys and offering plate analysis showed higher attendance levels with that kind of music.
I noted that in one of the local mega churches the message is highly action and visual show time with popular images and not much about what Jesus said. Jesus was kind of offensive and that will never do these days. It's more comfortable at church too. I can get a cup of coffee and put it in the cup holder on my theater seat. It sells. Nobody can even remember what JC did at the temple with the money changers any more.

Styles change its not about how you worship God its about just worshiping him in general. We all have our personal ways to worship and praise. Some prefer traditional and some more contemporary. But, if we can come together to worship the Lord thats all that matters

My guess is that for some churches, the membership is aging and they want to attract a younger audience and they feel that would be a good way to keep young people interested in being active in the church.

its because the younger generation is not into the organ or the hymns. its a constant change and has been since worship began. God is the god of today and how we seek him now is our own thing but the worship music is all still about spirit and heart. i personally am a fan of new styles.

So many churches are losing members, so they are turning to more "modern" services to hopefully appeal to the young people.
In some instances it is working.
