Today at Wal-mart I tried to hand the cashier one of three bags of cat food, but she told me she already got it. When I got out to the car, I realized that she only charged me for two of the three bags. It was a (approximately) 30 dollar bag. Instead of taking it back inside like a good samaritan, I drove off telling myself that it was Wal-mart's Christmas gift to me. Should I feel bad?

So...according to Wyomugs, I should be thanking all of you Wal-mart shoppers for my lovely Christmas gift, rather than thanking Wal-mart. So here goes....Thanks guys. I really appreciate it.

My feeling is trash out Wal-Mart and give you all the reasons they will get the money out of you somehow. I will set my cynicism aside for the season of giving.

Here's what I will do with my recommendation:
Don't feel bad, you gave her the chance to do the right thing.

If you feel your Karma is out of balance give the $30 to your favorite charity.

Happy Holidays.

NOO you should no feel bad at all. You tried to hand her the bag and she said she already got it so her fault not yours. Wal-mart makes soooo much money they probably wont even notice! Merry Christmas to you!

I don't think so. It's not like you purposely took something. It was an accident, and why should you be obligated to fix it. Wal-Mart is rich anyway, they won't feel the effects. If it was a smaller company, maybe you should of taken it back, but Wal-Mart is huge. Don't sweat it.

No, you shouldn't feel bad. But, you should go back and pay for it. Several people have commented that Wal-mart is "rich". That doesn't matter. The more items that leave Wal-Mart without being paid for, the higher our prices we pay. Just go back and explain and tell them you want to pay for the other item.

You shouldn't feel "bad"... you should feel "BADLY." The word is an adverb, not an adjective!!! Oh WHERE has our grammar gone?

Well, if you can sleep well tonight, then you have no scruples. If you can't, then you go back tomorrow and tell the customer service rep of the situation, and offer to pay for the food. THEN, you can sleep well tomorrow night.

If you wish to justify your theft, you can always tell yourself that ultimately you HAVE PAID for the food, since the price for all theft is eventually passed along to the consumer in the form of higher overall prices. Go ahead, and give the CSR a shock, be honest, and PAY for what you know you walked off without paying for.

Have a polite day.

No, it's their mistake not yours. The cashier should concentrate more. You shouldn't feel bad, rather happy that you got a free Christmas gift.

I'm a cashier at The Gap and one time I forgot to charge a bathing suit to the customer. She came back 12 minutes later saying the bathing suit was not on her receipt. She told me that I must've forgot to ring it up.

Sure enough I did forget to ring it. I thanked the woman for her honesty again and again because I knew majority of the time, customers wouldn't say anything.

You make the call. Just listen to your heart. :)

Nah, it's not like she gave you wrong change or something she would get in trouble for. Wal Mart will never know the difference.

How many cats do you have anyway??

I would feel bad if I kept it. Why don't you give the bag to a local pet shelter, then you can feel good about it or donate the money you would have spent on it to charity instead.
