I'm pretty sure there's a good whack of being strapped in a chair and being made to watch every episode of "Joey".

God will not torture people.
They will be tortured in a completely different state away from Heaven.
And no, burning will not be the only form of torture. There is just too much that our small brains, being human beings, can even BEGIN to comprehend. The idea of a neverending place, whether being Heaven or Hell, is unimaginable.
It's not like God WANTS the non believers to be tortured. He gives them an entire lifetime of opportunity, calling them the whole way. It's they who choose to ignore His calls.

Hell is a place of pain. It is not merely a mental state. It is for those who die in unbelief. See Luke 16:19-31 for a graphic portrayal of what Hell is like. But the Bible describes Hell in different ways—possibly for different types of crimes. For instance, Hell is described as:
• a place of darkness (Matthew 8:12, 22:13)
• away from the presence of the Lord (Matthew 25:41)
• an everlasting fire (Mark 9:43)
• containing undying worms (Mark. 9:44)
• a prison (1 Peter 3:19)
• a place where people wail and gnash their teeth in regret (Luke 16:28)
• a bottomless pit (Revelation 10:1, 3).
The Bible does not describe it as a torture chamber filled with demons and pitchforks. We got these images from the Middle Ages and modern comics, paintings, movies, and television. The Baker Encyclopedia of Christian Apologetics5 tells us that some believe the pain in Hell is self-inflicted, that the pain is "living with the consequences of our own bad choices."

The belief in a fiery hell comes from several passages in the Bible, such as Matthew 3:12.
John the Baptist, describing Christ, said that "He will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into his barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire."
John and others describing hell, including Jesus, speak in anology. The reality of heaven and hell is beyond our experience and understanding in this world, so it is described using ideas we're familiar with.
Winnowing away wheat chaff was an idea his audience was familiar with. They "got" the point when he described the chaff being burned - that those who are not gathered up by God and taken into heaven would suffer in some way.
Personally, I think hell will be the utter absence of God. Whether it is a physical place or a spiritual state of being remains to be seen. (Or, rather, hopefully not seen. This is one mystery of which I hope we all remain eternally ignorant.)

There is nothing in the Bible telling us that whoever doesn't believe, will " burn" in hell. When Adam & Eve sinned, it had a far-reaching effect on all of us. We had to learn to make choices. They became "good" choices & "bad "choices---and they were entirely on our "shoulders", so to speak. When I was a little kid, and made a "bad" choice, I was punished for it by my parents. This is how I discovered the difference beween the two. Now I'm in late middle age, & I have found out thru trial & error that I want to be loved by God (who loves us all, by the way) and I want to love God. I still make some bad choices, but when I talk to God, I tell him that I'm sorry and that I will try not to do whatever again. Guess what?? He forgives me. It's that simple. I try very hard not to tell anyone they're going to hell. How would I know that? But I do tell them how much God loves them and wants to be part of their lives. He does not "torture" people. They have made the choice (see, we're back to choices, now) of wheher they want to be with God in heaven or you know, down below.

The worst torture of hell will be eternal seperation from God. To me, this means eternity without hope. Even when things are really bad, most of us still cling to hope. To have no hope is a situation I wouldn't even want to contemplate. I cannot imagine what it would be like to be seperated from God. He is my best friend and constant companion. He has been with me longer than anyone on Earth, besides my Mom.

Loving God, will not torture people into hell. God loves us. He has plan for each one of our lives, not to be harmful but be prosperous. He loves you and offers a wonderful plan for you. We have to accept the fact that we are sinners and come to the cross and accept Jesus Christ as our savior and Lord. Then we can experience God's love and have a personal loving relationship with him. We receive God through personal invitation and by faith. Go check out "Four Spirtual life" on google or yahoo. You will never regret~ God is love and he created us so that we can trust him, and love him back~ it is because of our sins that is blocking us. God gave people choice. But if you make the right choice, you wont go to hell if you have accept Jesus Christ in to your life yet. People think that Christianity is religion, it is not. It is a personal loving relationship with God, the loving father, who created you and me. He loves us no matter what. We just need to come to him~

Hell my friend isn't just a big fire pit where people burn, that just what the movie tell you. Hell is in fact just separation from God, it is the complete severing of the God-human tie that holds us together, without this all the things that God can give us (sanity, happiness, peace, love, ect.) will not be possible. it won't be so much physical pain because you might not have a physical body, but spiritual pain.

If I get sent to hell I think god would torture me by making Jerry Fallwell and Pat Robertson my room mates. I've had serious burns, it's not so bad after the nerves shut down. I doubt that I could shut up Jerry and Pat about killing presidents or stealing their oil for Christ sakes.

God doesn't torture ppl in hell. He'll be too busy enjoying the company of those who love Him. You seem to think God delights in punishing ppl who reject Him. If that were the case, Jesus wouldn't have died for us. The gates of hell are locked on the inside. It isn't that God wants those ppl in hell, it's that those ppl don't want to be in heaven. If you aren't willing to obey God now, why would you then? The truth is, you wouldn't be happy if you had to submit to God.

I'm sorry, but there is NOTHING biblically that says hell will be hot. The torture is in knowing you will never see God again. And it will come after you've seen him briefly at your judgement. So you will see God, and then you will be ripped away from him forever. (This may not seem to you like it would be torture, but that's only because you've never seen God.)
