I have been reading the New Testament, but I can't find anywhere where Jesus Christ claims to be the long awaited Messiah.

Could someone help me here with a quote that would help me understand his role.

You see, I'm starting to believe, each of us will have to take a bigger role in our own salvation and not just passively wait for someone else to come and clean up our mess: "God helps those who help themselves". If I am right, I'll need to know what is required of us. So far, all I come up with is to treasure all life including our planet.

Thanks

"Primo": The "mess" I am referring to is mans blatant disregard for all of Gods creations, including man himself, in an effort to amass "The Almighty Dollar"; which I now believe may be the long anticipated "Mark of the Beast" or at least an early form of it.

He didn't say it in exactly those words. He referred to Himself as the Christ in John 17:3, and after the resurrection, in Luke 24:26. He referred to Himself as the Son of Man, and made many statements that He was the King, the Lord who would judge all nations. Just for example read Matthew 25:31-46.

Peter called Jesus "the Christ", which is the English form of the Greek word christos, meaning anointed one, or meshiach (messiah) in Hebrew. Jesus said that God had revealed that truth to Peter, and that's the way it's meant to be. God has to reveal Himself to us in His way and at His time. God very seldom gets in peoples' faces, like He did with Paul, and says "I'm Jesus!" He works in mysterious ways.

I'm not sure anyone is really getting to the core of your question tho, concerning our mess. Maybe you should redefine the question abit.

**********************************************************************

Now that you've explained it to me abit more, your question seems to be "even if Jesus is the Messiah, how does that help us?" That's a very good question.

You may know all this, so please bear with me as I explain that the title Messiah or Christ (Anointed One) describes primarily the priests (as in Numbers 3:3) and the kings (as in 2 Kings 9:6) over God's people. Jesus ultimately fulfills both offices, High Priest and King. But, just as God first gave His people a high priest, then many years later, a king, in the same way, Jesus came first as High Priest (Hebrews 9:12), then in the future He will come as King (Revelation 11:15).

So yes, Jesus is going to straighten things out when He comes to take over. But, as you correctly point out, each of us needs to take a role in our own salvation, just as the people had to bring sacrifices and offerings to the priest. As the Bible says, "faith without works is dead."

The problem you point out, disregard for anything but money, shows our selfishness, lack of true Love. The Bible condemns those who think they know the truth, but don't have real love. If we don't put God first, others second, and everything else third, we need to work on ourselves. Putting God first is more than just saying "I love Jesus!" If we don't obey Him, we're hypocrites.

God wants mankind to have dominion over all the earth (Genesis 1:26). This does not mean exploit the earth. It means rule over it as a gift from God in such a way that would please Him. So we should care for the ecology to the extent that we are each responsible for our share of it. Sadly, prophecy indicates that the earth is going to be ruined again at some point in the future by a series of catastrophies. But it also indicates that it will be restored to greater beauty after the return of Jesus.

You see, the Bible is not saying that we shouldn't care about what happens to the ecology, as selfish people might think. It is saying that the earth has been devastated before, why? because of mankind's wickedness. However, the earth can be repaired.

But, individuals, you and I, have one chance to get it right, then the judgment. And think about this - what one part of creation has God given each of us total and complete authority over right now? Our own selves. But do we actually dominate our own thoughts to keep them pure and clean and do we keep our bodies and our illicit passions under control as we should? If not, then we deny that Jesus is really our Messiah, our King and our Lord because this is the core of His teachings.

Interesting question, hope I helped somewhat. Please feel free to follow up with additional details.

I think I can help you!
Read the passage about the woman at the well. It is long but so very good. It is what changed my life and let me finally realize the love of my God for me. I had a really hard time accepting that He knew and loved me, but this part of Scripture is what God used to break the wall around my heart.
John 4:1-29 or farther if you want. What you are looking for specifically is in verses 25-26.
There is so much to know, but the greatest is this... our faith must lie in the Cross of Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:23;
1 Corinthians 2:2; Galations 2:20
And as a warning, stay away from all the proclaimed christian help books. So much is unneeded. You just need a good study Bible and so many of these other books get into psycology. Even The Purpose Driven Life has New Age terminology because its author has New Age background.
In these last days things are getting more and more confusing. Ground yourself in His Word and stick to those older versions. I'm pretty young and I stick with a study King James Bible or even New King James, because there is differences in Bibles.
Keep reading His Word and keep up the good work!

He shown to Simon Peter that he's the Christ, it rather is known to be the Messiah, yet he in no way actual used the be conscious Messiah. He in no way claimed to be a prophet interior the Bible the two. in reality, no prophet ever claimed to be a prophet. it rather is only in Mohammad's "recitation" the place Jesus broadcasts himself to be a prophet. That on my own is a extensive crimson flag that something is amazingly incorrect interior the Qur'an. Did Mohammad declare himself to be a prophet? If no longer, then how do you be responsive to he grow to be? See how your guy or woman logic works against you? in case you opt to learn approximately Christianity, ask a Christian, no longer an Imam. Imams opt to maintain you as far faraway from the authentic message of Jesus as accessible, and as close to to Mohammad's version of Jesus as accessible on the comparable time.

First, Ben Franklin wrote "God helps those who help themselves" in Poor Richards Almanac. Though Ben was a smart guy, he did not always have the right answers.

Second, Biblical Christianity is unique in that it is the only non-works base "religion. There is nothing we can do to solve our sin problem, we can't clean up our mess. That is why Jesus came to earth in the first place.

Third, in the new testament in the book of John 11:25-26, Jesus said " I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" The choice is yours.

My answer for you may seem too simple. If it is, I apologize. But....

to believe Jesus is the Christ takes a child-like faith and willingness to believe. Jesus never stood up and said "I'm the Messiah so everybody bow down"! He didn't have to. And apparently that wasn't God's plan for Him. Others around Him recognized Him as the Promised One by His works and miracles. And Jesus was working God's plan for man's salvation. Part of that plan was that we have faith and believe.

So my simple answer to you is to ...just believe! Blessings!

Yes he did and he did it directly at John 4:25,26...The others listed by Jason above are clear, as well.

25 The woman said to him: “I know that Mes·si′ah is coming, who is called Christ. Whenever that one arrives, he will declare all things to us openly.” 26 Jesus said to her: “I who am speaking to you am he.”

You are right about us needing to take an active role in our salvation though. That is very astute. The often quoted scripture at John 3:16 gives us that indication ... "“For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life" Notice he speaks of EXERCISING faith, not a passive word. Even clearer is Luke 13:26 ... “Exert yourselves vigorously to get in through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will seek to get in but will not be able."

What do you need to do: Take in knowledge as Jesus, again, said at John 17:3

Please feel free me if you'd like to discuss further.

The Red Letter edition of the Bible does not show any exact quote to that effect in the New Testament. That is surprising since a simple chapter or two of false recollection could have fixed that problem early on . If Pat Robertson had been alive just after the Crucifixion I am sure he would have written the book a lot differently.
If the Bible is truly the word of God then the phrase, "By their works you will know them" implies that God will also know them no matter whether they "find God" after their conviction for robbery, rape or murder.
