The kitten keeps going down back of sofa and under really small gaps and then goes to sleep, shud i close off all these places or let the cat sleep under sofa etc?? PLEASE REPLY!

#1 Normal, that is a kitten! Give them things to chew on when they go for your hand. #2 Could be a bit scared, but that should stop very shortly. Make sure you are being gentle and not loud and that they are not cold. #3 They are looking for a warm safe place to sleep. You should provide a very comfy little bed, in a safe place, that is warm enough for them. I used to put my kittens in a guest bathroom and removed all dangerous things they could eat or get into.

Remember, these are babies and need to be treated like that until they can understand danger, etc.

It's a very young kitten and should be at least 8 weeks or older to be separated from it's mother. The cat is under the sofa for warmth and security. It might be best to make it a warm bed. Kittens scratch when they play as they haven't learned to detract their claws yet. Kittens love to play( the nipping and scratching is not bad behavior just play time) I don't know what you mean by shaking, but if this is only when petted it's natural. Just give the kitten lots of love, comfort and security and you will have a wonderful experience.

1. This is normal but you want to make sure the kitten knows its not okay to do even if its only playing. Get a spray bottle or blow air into its nose/face as soon as it nips or scratches.

2. Don't force the kitten to be held - its a sure fire way to get a cat to not like contact. Make yourself available and shower the kitten with attention. When you find it asleep, quietly transport the kitten onto your lap and very gently stroke it. After a while of waking up on you, the kitten will love a warm lap.

3. anywhere the kitten could get stuck or hurt itself should be closed off. underneath sofas and beds are fine, since they will grow out of it... you just don't want the kitten to end up somewhere it can't get out of when you aren't home. Also the less access they have to wires/cords, the better.

hope that helps!

hmmm. It could be her food, because the type of foods you are feeding her are low-end foods. You should feed her a higher-end food, like Eukanuba, Iams, Nutro...they have more protein and less nasty by-products that can harm your kitty's digestive system. Look at the ingredient labels on your food and make sure that it doesn't list by-products, corn or wheat products or any unpronounceable chemicals in the first 4 ingredients. Also, and this is very important - feed her KITTEN food. At 7 to 8 weeks, your kitty is a little too young to be taken away from mommy...but since the damage is already done, are you feeding her the same food that she was being fed before you got her? If not, then she's just getting used to a different food, and it's normal for a kitten to get diahrrea from quickly changing her food over. Not really nice for her to have to deal with...but it should go away in a couple days. And from now on when you change over her food, do it slowly by mixing for a week or so before completely changing it over. There are also other possibilities as to what's going wrong. She may have a number of possible infections. Monitor her food/water intake, and make sure she's not lethargic or hiding, or pooping/peeing outside her litterbox, all can be signs of more serious issues. Especially for kittens that young, diahrrea can really do a number on them...they can get dehydrated REALLY quickly. Feed her lots of (high quality!!) wet food to make sure she's getting plenty of water, and if it doesn't go away in 3-4 days, get her to a vet immediately.

ok more than likely it's a lil afraid and wants it mommy just assure it like you would a baby that its safe. which brings to i think the reason for the kitten sleeping under the sofa is thats probably the only place it feels safe if you close it which might be a good thing give it another "hiding" spot but if not just be aware that the kitten might be under there
remember its just like a baby in a hairy kind of way=]

My cat did every thing that cat is doing when we got him at 8 weeks. Now we can hardly keep him away from us. Try letting the kitten warm up for like 1 or 2 weeks and at the same time try to interact with the cat. Move a pencil back and fourth to get the kitten to chase it. Thats what I did. And dont block off the areas he hides in thats his safety zone Its like locking you from a earthquake shelter in the middle of an earthquake.

Yes, this is all pretty normal. Your new kitten is just nervous and scared of being in a new place. Be close-by, but let it explore. I'd let it go under the couch, etc UNLESS it's dangerous...then I would block it off. When you go to bed, I would definately keep it in a confined space ex. bathroom--make sure toilet lid is down :) along with it's litter box and food/water, some toys, and a nice blanket to sleep on.

Let your little kitten adjust to its new surroundings. It is perfectly normal to find a safe out of the way to sleep. This may change after the kitten grows accustomed to being in this new place. How fun and exciting. Be patient....

The kitten misses its mommy. It may not be totally weaned from mommy. He or she should do okay if you provide some soft kitten food, and cuddle the kitten the way mommy would.
Not all animals are "people" animals per se. They are, basically, wild animals, and will hide from people in whatever way they can, be it in a piece of furniture or outside crevice or whatever. Let the kitten be, let it develop animal instincts, and adjust to that accordingly.

first, this baby needs a safe place that's why it gets under the sofa.
Make it a comfortable and safe spot, it may be with a carton box with old clothe or towels. Somewhere where it can be safe and warm. It' shaking cause it is either scared or cold or both.
First make it a cozy place to be.
