If you read my previous question, this will make more sense. I want to open my own day care when I get older.

Anyway, when I turn 16 this following summer, I could get a job, or I could babysit kids. What do you think I should do? I would enjoy the babysitting, but isn't work supposed to be "work" I would consider babysitting as..FUN. I don't know what I should do. Any ideas?? I really need some HELPFUL ideas.
Thanks so much. I don't want this question to be a waste of 5 points. I don't know if I should babysit, (I don't have anyone yet) or work at a movie theater or something..

if you can get a job that is fun and pays, then do it. babysitting will not always be fun as all kids are not the same and their moods do change. also another thing to consider is, do you really want to get burn out on kids at such a young age. if you want to do it for the rest of your life then you might want to work now at a movie theature or as a hostess or something. Good luck girl!!!

If you get a real job, work for an employer and will get a W2 at the end of the year, then you will be a taxpayer. If you babysit, you won't have to do that, just ask people to pay you in cash. So you have to decide what you want.

You might be able to make more babysitting if you price yourself right. Usually someone 16 will make minimum wage, which isn't much after taxes.

If you want to run a day care someday, babysitting is a good way to start to learn about kids and their different developmental levels. That will help a whole lot when you go to college to get your e.c.e. credits needed to work in a pre -school. If you want something that is more reliable for a steady income you could get a job at a pre school helping in the afternoons. It is a good idea to work in the area you want as your life's work. You get experience and get a chance to see if it really is the occupation for you

Well babysitting is good for you if you think it's fun which is great attribute for a job! But if you want a steady job then I would recommend finding a job that you enjoy such as daycare or something to that extent.

Hope this helps =)

If you want to open your own daycare some day, you need as much manegerial and business experience as possible now. Find a job somewhere where you can learn the business, and work babysitting jobs on the side.

Go with the FUN! If childcare is something you want to do with your life, then go for it. Babysit now and when you get older, go to school and make it your career. Choose a job you are going to enjoy and don't listen to those that say work has to be something you hate. Personally, I wish I would've gotten this advice when I was younger... ;)

Most people go through life hating their jobs.

Whatever you end up doing, even though it may not be for the rest of your life, you should enjoy your chosen work. If it's fun to do, you'll do it better and with more dedication than someone who is there just to collect a pay-packet at the end of the week.

I think you should go with babysitting. Work should be both "work" & "fun"
If you can do something for a living and enjoy it you should def go for it.

I'd go with a real job, sure baby sitting might be fun and possiby easier but a job is more reliable guarantying money in your pocket every one or two weeks. I would pick reliable over fun.

depends if you want a steady job or not. babysitting tends not to be that steady (but it pays well sometimes) try getting a job that will involve you w/ kids. daycare or something like that
