I am an orange belt-going to get my black stripe soon-I started in the begining of February '07, but have missed 2 months. So, I think I'm doing pretty well. What color belt are you??

It doesn't have to be karate either-it can be other asian sports that are belt-realated.

After receiving yellow belt, I quit. I just felt like not doing it anymore because I was planning on becoming a professional fighter as soon as possible and they wouldn't let me learn it until pass tests and receive black belts. So I just switched to Muay Thai where all you do is train and learn all the techniques right away once they think you've reached certain level. But Karate on the other hand, no matter how easily you can beat up black belts, they won't teach you new things and can't do certain trainings. This is why I don't really like any martial arts that includes belt or any type of rank system. Because in my case, it's only putting me down.

I personally would recommend Muay Thai or MMA.

2nd kyu brown belt in Shotokan. Haven't studied it for awhile, though since a few places I've lived didn't have Shotokan dojos nearby (only Taekwondo).

I'll probably get back into it, just so I can get to 2nd or 3rd degree black belt, but in the meantime, I'm gonna check out Kenpo Jujitsu--at least then I can learn some grappling.
