~ I am wanting to purchase a couple nice goose down feather pillows,,,,some are just down, some are just feathers, and some are both....these seem to be somewhat pricey also,,,,can you tell me the difference between these,,and what is the best buy?

Down is best. Down are the fine feathers next to the body of the bird that serve to keep it warm because they are very, very fluffy.
Feathers, are not fluffy, they only give mass to the pillow (useless filler) and their quills will poke you. Trust me.
Down is what everyone wants, but because people don't know that manufactures get away with selling feathers.

For a start you don't want feathers, you need goose or duck down pilows. The best is goose down. It is finer, softer and, unfortunately for the goose, you get a lot more per goose plucked.

Down pillows are softer, more "moldable" than feather pillows, they're especially good if you like to sleep on your stomach, and there's no feathers poking through - though in your better feather pillows they'll use a denser cover to prevent this. Feathers provide more firmness, while still being pliable, they're better for back and side sleepers - these are just generalities though, it's still up to personal preference. Good quality down pillows will last for many years and are a real luxury.

down is the fine hair or fine feather , of the goose, it is an insulator, and softer,
feather are not as soft, but next to it,
best buy is a pillow at wal-mart, for $8.00
