The truth isn't ever comfortable for me... when I don't know I am being lied to, I think I am even more happy. I've experienced happiness much littler in my life than sorrow, pain, or anger. Even when I was still a Christian, I felt so much more hurt. I'm a living skeptic.

The more I read into all the different interpretations and information provided for different religions knowing that they are all just interpretations of what they consider to be the absolute truth, the more it saddens me, because I can't see it the same way they do. When I feel like I do, sure I am happy for a little while, until I recognize my own truth. The more I think for myself, the more self-absorbed I feel too. Hmm...

I am really sorry that you feel this way. I have struggled with doubt myself, many a times. It is not easy in life to find the Truth, even when it seems like it should be a walk in the park.
If you look at all the religions in the world, Christianity is the only one that states that if we are good enough, if we do enough good deeds, we will make it to some kind of a heaven. Christianity tells us that is only by the grace that our Father bestows, and our acceptance of the price that Jesus Christ paid for us, we are adopted children of the King, and our place in heaven for eternity is secure.
As far as different demoninations, I get so tired and so confused sometimes but I think going about it that way is wrong too. At some point we have to realize that it is our responsibility to seek the Truth. Do you believe the Bible really is the Word of God? If you do, then you take it all, not just bits and pieces. (As a side note, a lot of these newer Bibles are not good, especially the New Century Version that has a lot of New Age termonology in it)
Once you decide that the Bible is God's Word, you study it for all its worth. No person can be the example for us on what kind of life we should lead. Jesus Christ is our example, and if we are really seeking Him, He will help us find the truth.
Sometimes we make things so very complicated. The Bible says that if you believe the Jesus was the Son of God, born of a virgin, died on the cross for your sins, and rose again... and if you confess what a sinner you are and humble yourself (something a lot of people have trouble even comprehending) and call on Him, He will save you. Then you study His Word and learn all you can to stay on firm foundation.
And being a follower of Christ is not full of good times, there are stuggles, spiritual battles, and just plain hard days. But He promises to be with us, to be our Comforter, to deliver us from the bondage of depression and so much else that keeps us from His joy.

Throw away interpretations, read the Bible literally unless its own text tells you otherwise.

Dr. David L. Cooper, the founder of The Biblical Research Society, was proficient in the Biblical languages. He studied Greek under Dr. A. T. Robertson. Dr. Cooper is known for his “Golden Rule of Interpretation” which is as follows:

When the plain sense of Scripture

makes common sense,

seek no other sense;

Therefore, take every word

at its primary, ordinary,

usual, literal meaning

Unless the facts

of the immediate context,

studied in the light

Of related passages and

axiomatic and fundamental truths

indicate clearly otherwise.

[This rule was published regularly in Dr. Cooper's monthly magazine, Biblical Research Monthly.]

--

If God be the originator of language and if the chief purpose of originating it was to convey His message to humanity, then it must follow that He, being all-wise and all-loving, originated sufficient language to convey all that was in His heart to tell mankind. Furthermore, it must also follow that He would use language and expect people to understand it in its literal, normal, and plain sense. The Scriptures, then, cannot be regarded as an illustration of some special use of language so that in the interpretation of these Scriptures some deeper meaning of the words must be sought. [Charles C. Ryrie, Dispensationalism (Chicago: Moody Press, 1995), 81.]

--

The Clarifying Statement on Dispensationalism, published by the New England Bible Conference, says it this way:

The Bible must be interpreted literally which is the way language is normally and naturally understood. We recognize that the Bible writers frequently used figurative language which is a normal and picturesque way of portraying literal truth. The Bible must be understood in the light of the normal use of language, the usage of words, the historical and cultural background, the context of the passage and the overall teaching of the Bible (2 Tim. 2:15). Most importantly, the believer must study the Bible in full dependence upon the SPIRIT OF TRUTH whose ministry is to reveal Christ and illumine the minds and hearts of believers (John 5:39; 16:13-15; 1 Cor. 2:9-16). The natural, unregenerate man cannot understand or interpret correctly the Word of God. The things of God are foolishness to him, he cannot know them (1 Cor. 2:14), and his mind is blinded (Rom. 3:11; 2 Cor. 4:3-4).

Unique! you are not unique. There are many like you out there. Most people have suffered like you and are still suffering. Because priests and rabbis have manipulated religion to provide benefit to capitalists, money lenders and
multi nationals.

Christ lived for the service to the poor and needy. He never made a home for himself. But today's clergy lives in palaces
like kings. They accompany the warriors and preach from
a high pedestal. A religion that brings tyranny and misery cannot be a true religion. Therefore look at other options.
You may find a real true religion that gives you peace of mind
and solace to the soul.

May God help you.

It's not about what you believe. It's about what you trust.

You should trust/know the truth and you should distrust the lies. If you trust lies you do not know the truth.

God reveals the truth through the Holy Spirit. Similarly, God should cause you to distrust lies.

For those seeking 'truth' - I tend to think, that the truth is very simple --- but sadly much of that truth is kept from mankind, because what we have instead, are myths, passed off as being 'truth' but they are such convoluted and unbelievable stories, that most cannot accept them as being true, when they go against being plausible, 'real', probable, etc etc.
These myths are of course, backed by the world religions, in which they have their investment (power and control) over mankind. They set themselves up as authorities, over their church, etc etc and commercialise it, such that they build their kingdoms upon this earth, under the pretence they are spiritual, etc etc --- which they are not, when you examine them carefully...
