For instance, if I said "I hope your family is well"- would you think that I was against your mom or your brother if I didn't mention them by name? Of course not! That would be...ridiculous.

Why then is "Happy Holidays" anti-Christian? Please explain this to me. It is an INCLUSIVE greeting - including everyones special days - Jews, Pagans AND yes, Christians too.

When I say "Happy Holidays" it means "I hope you are having a nice holiday season" and that is all it means. WHY oh why, just because I mention your specific "holy day" by saying "holidays" is it "anti" Christian? If I say "Have a good weekend" would you think it therefore meant "I hope you have a horrible Monday"? Can you please explain how this simple kind greeting can be seen as a hateful attack? I really don't get it.

I can't understand this either. But you know ... being all-inclusive *is* pretty anti-christian.

Happy Holidays, Laptop!

LOL, great question. I try to "match the greeting to whatever you happen to be celebrating if I know which religion or belief you belong to". If I'm not sure I say "Happy Holidays" and hope they take no offense. I've often wondered, am I allowed to say "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Solstice" or does that give them the impression that I also celebrate/believe in their holiday? When I am simply hoping they enjoy whatever they are celebrating...... Wow it gets so tiring.

I have no problem with those who are unwilling by conviction, in avoiding the traditional "Merry or Happy Christmas" greeting....My problem is with any chain of retail outlets, who forbid their employees the right to extend a "Merry Christmas" offering, for fear(once again),of "offending," 2-3% of a very thin-skinned minority.

Merry Holidays,(((Laptop)))

I think it's lovely when someone wishes me Happy Holidays. I just hope they think it's equally lovely when I wish them Merry Christmas. My only objection is when someone tries to force me to adopt the first over the second to avoid offending anyone. If a sincere "Merry Christmas" offends you, consider therapy.

It's because it is also inclusive of other religions as well...which is just completely against everything Christians stand for....

I understand your argument, but probably some people hate it not for religious reasons, but because it has become a stupid PC mantra like "HAVE A NICE DAY!" or "HAVE A BLESSED DAY!" (blah blah blah! Bah Humbug!) I know, I say it too.

A good point well made.

I suppose one way of looking at it is that some people are slightly racist and they feel that the new multicultural society is eroding their Christian values.

No I wouldn't. But then, I don't insist that my family is the ONE TRUE family and everyone else's family is a fiction.
