Hey, I have a 1 year old cat, she is soooo spoilt. and i love her to death. I live with my family by the way, and she's always around us, goes out for a few hours during the day and spends the rest of the time with us. she even sleeps in my bed etc. and sometimes we're in a room and she thinks we're not home she starts moaning and crying, until i start calling her and she know's one of us is home, then she's ok.

We have to go on a 2 week trip with the family and im scared of leaving her behind. I could get my grandmother to stay at my house.. but im still worried. would she be ok? How do 'really spoilt cats' usually deal with these situations?

As long as your grandmother takes care of her EVERY DAY, then she will be fine. NEVER leave an animal for days at a time alone, no matter how much food and water you leave for it. It needs the human interaction, and it needs to be checked every day for signs of illness or injury.

If granny can not take care of it daily, put the cat in a reputable boarding facility for the 2 weeks you will be gone - she will still be mad at you for leaving her, but she should be safe and well.

Most animals are highly sensitive and will react adversely if you leave your pets at home for too long. They might even become ill through various conditions that prevail while you’re not in the house to oversee their needs. There are other ways to deal with this and if you know that you’ll only be gone for a short while, then you could always ask a friend or neighbor to come and check up on the pets at home.

If you’re going away for a longer time than a week though you really shouldn’t leave your pets at home as this can only lead to disaster. Not only will your home be wrecked by the time you get back, your pets will be pining for you, yes even your cat, and they might have gotten to all the food quickly and not have had anything to eat other than your shoes for the past few days.

You would be surprised! My cat is also very spoiled and follows me around everywhere. When I went on a trip I couldn't think of anyone who would take him so I had to bring him to a cat kennel. I called the next day to see how he was and the caregiver said he was having a blast with the other cats! When I picked him up, sure enough he was out of his kennel/room and playing in the common room with the other cats! He was actually bummed to be going home. I didn't imagine that happening for a second!

Don't worry, your cat will forgive you :)

If you were going for just a few days I'd say she'd be fine, but 2 wks is a long time. I would let the grandma stay with her. She'll be fine, and besides cats don't know that concept of time and she won't know how long you're really gonna be gone. Go and have a good time, I'm sure Grandma knows what she's doing.

She will be physically okay, if she has enough food and water, and it would be a good idea to have grandma stay with her.

But if shes like most cats, she will probably be really angry when you come back and you can probably expect some nice things torn up while you're gone.

Don't worry, she'll be fine with grandma. Just be sure to tell her how much food and water she needs, what brand food, and how often to put her food, change her water.

You can even choose to take Kitty with you. She will be a bit unhappy if this is her first trip, but she'll be used to it in no time.

Don't worry. Call up grandma while you're away just to be sure everything is going smoothly with Kitty.

This cat needs time away from you anyway if she's that spoiled. She will be purrfectly fine if you leave her with your Grandmother, as long as she's fed and someone is there she will be fine.
