at Claire's its like thirty bucks on average. at wal-mart, they have all the same materials and they're just as good, and all you have to do is pay for the earing which are almost all under ten dollars.
(thats where i got mine done and haven't had any problems, but when i got em' don't at Claire's and my hair dressers, they got REALLY infected and i had to let them close up.)

all depends on what part of the ear.
if you just getting the basic ear peircing. like the lobes
you can get it done "free" at the mall at stores like Claire's and Peircing Pagoda.
but you have to pay for a pair of piercing studs(the earrings)
and that cleaning solution.
it usually starts at about 15 dollars for the earrings but thats usually like just plain ole metal.
if you wanna get silver, gold, etc. it can get pricey.
but if you want anything special like orbitals, industrials, and in some states the cartilege peirced you have to go to a peircing shop. and that can cost anywhere from 25 dollars to 50 or 60 dollars, plus jewelry. just dont get it done anywhere cheap and dirty like WALMART thats just plain NASTY.

If you go anywhere like Claires, Walmart, or Piercing pagoda it's probably cheap.
But remember that cheaper doesn't equal better.
Those places use a piercing gun, which can't be sterilized and give you a nice risk of getting hepatitis or an infection.
The stud also can't be sterilized, and the gun "piercer" has little experience so it'll probably be crooked. That and I doubt they even wear gloves.

At the piercing place I go to (I just checked prices) If you get your lobes pierced at 12 gauge or smaller it's $23 + the cost of jewelry. If it's at 10 gauge or bigger it's $35 + the cost of jewelry.

I went to Walmart to get holes in different places on my ears and it was about $15 and that included the earrings of my choice. There were cheaper earrings. . .Just be sure you get someone that knows what they are doing. The first WM adventure put the holes at different levels because she didn't shoot the earring through the mark. I had to go back and get yet another hole and my ear was sore that time/

I once paid $6 at Wal-Mart, but I wouldn't suggest that.

Go to Claire's, they're way clean. They start at $13.50, and an addition $2 for cartilage(this was the last time I asked). Icing is owned by Claire's, so their good, too.

About 99.9% of the time, it's free, but you DO need to buy your own earring, unless you find one! LOL :P JK
