Does anyone else have a dog that shakes it's ears when you are sleeping to get your attention?? My lab does this to me almost every morning. Her ears are fine, she's just strange I guess. I wonder what other things mean in "dog talk".

When a dog wants to get your attention, it will use what ever has worked in the past.
When my dog wants to go out, he will put my hand in his mouth, as if to pull me.
If I am busy and do not give him attention for a long time, he will come over and poke me with his nose or throw a dog toy at me. That cracked me up.

My parents had a dog that did that. When she wanted to go out during the night she would come to the bed and flap her ears to wake them up and get their attention.

Uhhhh, No. I think she has the beginnings of an infection, or a yeasty ear, and she is shaking her ears, your waking up is just a coincidence.

No my dog doesn't do that but maybe the lab is telling you that it wants to play.Do you give your lab enough playtime and exercise to meet its needs. If you don't you should because sometimes it will lead to behavior problems.
