There are over 30,000 Christian denominations, so some of the ones you don't believe will probably in your view be false. Eg. some Anglicans view Catholics as Mary-worshiping idolaters, and some Catholics have negative views of the Orthodox & other denominations as being 'false' break-aways from the true church. Some Greek Orthodox say they're the only true, original Church, since the new testament is a Greek bible.
Most Christians believe if you reject Jesus you'll be condemned for eternity. So who do you believe and hope God will rather accept:
- the person that accepts Jesus for the wrong reasons; ie.a person who believed and defended the wrong denomination, whose false teachings are directly against what Jesus actually taught;
OR
- the person who rejected the Church because the Church's teachings were indeed false and the person who left was exactly right. The person subseqently left Jesus because perhaps the majority ignorantly convinced that person they're wrong.

I'm reading into Christian Universalism- what the majority of Christians in the first centuries believed. It appeals to people who believe in God but reject the idea of eternal damnation, calling hell an insult to God's loving character, which many atheists say has more in common with a sadist than anything to do with love.
Eternal torturing in hell has possibly led more people to atheism than any other church doctrine. It's already been proved many references to hell are gross mistranslations of elementary words, like the Jewish 'sheol'.
But those who don't understand universalism will continue to reject God because they're possibly being taught the wrong thing. It's unfair that they be condemned, while what could be called heartless hypocrites who say they believe in love but are comfortable with eternal torture with no way out are 'saved' because the believe the wrong God but for the wrong reasons.

The Holy Fathers of the Church, in corroberation with the Bible, teach that heretics cannot be saved. Orthodox teaching is necessary for salvation. don't listen to modern heretic. Listen to the Fathers and the Scriptures. Christ is the only way.
The Universalists know nothing about early Christianity. They are heretics. Hell exists because
1. Jesus said it exists. He is the final word on the matter.
2. Justice exists in the universe. People like Hitler and Stalin will pay for their crimes.
There is a spurious movement occuring today where feelings are maximized and truth is minimized. People want to invent a God after their own desires to suit themselves. This is bogus. Christ is the final rule of arbitration --the final authority. He said hell exists and is eternal. End of argument. You better live with it because its the truth.
On Church history, read the four volume series "The Christian Tradition," by Jaroslav Pelikan. He was considered the worlds foremoset expert on Christian history (recpient of 42 honary doctorates and the John Kluge Award).

This all presumes they reject true religion that God approves when it is offered them. Some will, some won't.
It will be up to God who examines the inner most heart of people.
He already has made provision for those who have died never having heard of the choices they must make. Acts 24:15 speaks of a resurrection of BOTH righteous and unrighteous. This does not mean the willfully unrighteous. What would be the point? It means those who are not declared righteous because they died without knowing the choice they must each make.
It is far better to make the right choice now while we all have the chance. Make the choice to follow the way God truly approves. The religion that fully follows the Bible and does the work as God orders.

Hence the problem with a mancentric or synergistic salvation, it depends on the person. This is not Biblical. God chooses out those for salvation, those who are His people. If you are chosen out, God will take you from the false teacher to a true teacher of the word. God's salvation work is not dependent nor held hostage by the whims of man, it is solely His work.
Rom 8:28 But we know that to the ones loving God all things work together for good, to those being called according to purpose;
Rom 8:29 because whom He foreknew, He also predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son, for Him to be the First-born among many brothers.
Rom 8:30 But whom He predestinated, these He also called; and whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

This is a very broad question, actually there is more then one question in your post, and none of them can be answered correctly in one post nor in any post, for every answer we give it is going to fall short without going further in explaining, every answer is going to create many questions and with out answering them we are going to lead you into error. but let me try . first your question >>>"So who do you believe and hope God will rather accept:" <<< shall we answer for God?God forbid, No.
This only belong to God we as the Church " the Body of Christ" it is not our place to say or to hope who GOD will accept...We are to pray for and hope for the salvation of all but not to only one.
This is the Place of the "Head of the Church = Christ" but we ARE as the Body of Christ to preach to those who doesnt know, to put the word in their midst, bring the good news to them, the Orthodox church always taught that we know where the Holy Spirit is and where the salvation is but we do not know where the Holy Spirit would not go or whom HE will save, GOD's Will is sovereign He is not bound by anything nor anybody

You use your own initiative and conscience and concentrate on the main character of salvation;Christ and his message,through your own study of the Bible.
If God is willing that none should perish he wouldn't tie his salvation up in a lot of extra dogma and sacraments would he?

I think Jesus addressed this issue very directly and specifically
38 ¶ And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
40 For he that is not against us is on our part.
41 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.
