There is DOMA = "Defense of Marriage Act" passed under Clinton's administration. How does allowing states NOT to recognize a binding contract from another state protect marriage?

And there are all these "Definition of Marriage" amendments to "protect" marriage.
I'd like to ask: "How can my marrying my same sex partner imperil YOUR marriage? Or anyone’s future marriage? What exactly needs protection? And from what? Heck -- I want to STRENGTHEN the ideal of marriage by participating in it!

And how about social justice? Should I not be treated under the law the same as others? And be able to

Many express the view that this is against the Bible, or this is not what marriage means, etc. Good -- that’s your opinion and are entitled to it. But can you ANSWER MY QUESTIONS? How is my marrying my partner imperiling marriage?

I want to be married, not "civil unioned"-- which to me is an insult. I want the same regard and dignity to be attached to my relationship. However, can

HASSE_JO:
Thanks for your reply. You asked: "I suppose you are clear as to what YHVH said about same sex unions?"

As far as I can tell -- nothing! (You of course will disagree with this conclusion. (And I respect your opinion -- I just disagree). If this was only a matter of "religion" then I would state that I BELIEVE that before God we ARE married and we believe that we are in God's grace.

However -- can you answer my original question?

How ? Ok, here it is..if we say yes to all this and go against what God has forbidden, then It is our belief that God's hand of protection will come away from this country and all kinds of death and suffering will result.

For example: around 1962, the worse thing that happened in school was an occasional tardiness, talking out of turn, Cutting up in class.
Now that madeline Murray O'hare has taken prayer out of school that has changed.
Just 20 years later in 1982, the School offenses, were and are, Rape, Murder, Extortion, Drug abuse on a grand scale, Sexual Transmitted Diseases, Teen Pregancy's, mass abortions, Gang warfare, Mass School Shootings.

All Because They Took God away from school. and it will only get worse.
Go against the natural order of God's Kingdom, and allow Gay Marriage to be legal,, Thumbing in effect our noses at God's law, then what happened with katrina in New Orleans, will seem like childsplay.
Now, You don't believe that I know, But we do, and we will never stop Fighting against it,and you will never be able to change our minds on that, never .
Accept it.

Of course your gay marriage will not imperil the status of straight marriages!

But just try telling the neanderthals that.
Their stand comes from a place of ignorance and fear.

They've been fed a line about how sacred their unions are and how terrible a gay union is. They are too ignorant to do their own fact finding, so it's easier for them to just go along with a prejudice born from fear.

As long as there are ignorant people in the world, this will continue to a degree. The secret lies in education. But remember the resistance to the idea that the world was round ?? You are facing the same thing.. regardless how logical or morally right the argument for gay marriage is, a lot of them are still going to insist that the world is flat and gay marriage is wrong.

Unfortunately there is little you can do about ignorance.

By all means lobby for change, and don't give up on that. But meantime find a nice gay church full of the true spirit of Divine Love, and be sanctified in marriage in that environment, while perhaps not legally binding, it will mean much more than being married in some legal but spiritually bereft ceremony.

I understand totally why you are feeling outraged, and I agree with you completely. It needs to change.
BUT.. meantime don't buy into the ignorance, protect yourselves from it.

Greetings brothersand sisters I greet you all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ who gave himself for us all, no matter who or what we claim to be, lets get to it...

Same sex marriage CAN NOT imperil what God constitute and has ordained to be a marriage. I say this because it is impossable for mankind to endanger or destroy the principles that God has established to govern all existance.

We as the human family can only corrupt what God has established and I will be the 1st to tell you we do a wonderful job at that (truthfully sarcastic).

As far as should you be treated the same under the law in reference to social justice? Sure you should according to the laws of the land, but God do say otherwise.

The truth my friend is that you are going to have a long rocky road to travel in regards to this matter. You may even prevail in you endeavour, but when it is all said and done we all still have to bow before the King of King and give and account.

It would be better not to know the truth than to know and not abide within it.

Think on these things, brother or sister and peace be unto you...

you are not a threat, your marriage is your opinion and business, I don't know why in a world with so much conflict, the fact 2 people want to be public ally recognised as a couple can be a issue.
I think the problem is, some countries are based and built on christian and other faiths value's and to be a same sex couple goes against that faiths teachings.
they just don't want you to fly in the face of how society was built.
(despite gay and lesbian relationships occurring since time began I'm sure)

Well in the catholic religion its a giant problem as they believe in the adam and eve theory, which is why they are so upposed to same partners, however there are other religions that don't have a problem with it at all. I suggest to escape the ridicule a search for a religion more accepting would be a help.

Lev 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
This abominable crime, frequent among the Greeks and Romans as well as the Canaanites, may be punished with death in this country. (Adam Clarke's Notes on the Bible)

You personally cannot imperil marriage, but you are asking society to BLESS (approval under the law) something that the Bible refers to as abomination.
Where do you think the word SODOMY came from? Do you know what etymology is? Hint: "Sodomy" is derived from the town of Sodom in Genesis 19. If you want to see what happened, read that chapter.
Every state where your abomination has been put to a vote by the citizens, your abomination has been OVERWHELMINGLY rejected by voters.
For any society to put the sanction of legality on abomination is to cheapen that society and downgrade it, making the entire society abominable. I would suggest to you that you take your friends who agree with you, and go get on a boat and sail off to your own new world and make your own laws.
For those who want to give me this elementary school level of intelligence and say that you can't legislate morality or that separation of church and state regarding this matter; ALL LAWS REPRESENT SOMEONE'S MORALITY, THE QUESTION IS NOT LEGISLATING MORALITY, BUT WHOSE MORALTY ARE WE GOING TO LEGISLATE?

Don't ask me, I see no problem with you marrying someone you love, whether they're the same sex or another sex. Just stay positive. The whole reason why polygamy and same-sex marriages are outlawed is because America is run by Christianity rather than Government. It's on the downfall, though, so just be patient. One day, you'll be able to marry him without any worries. :) Best of luck to the both of you.

It's not so much as an attack on our culture as it is an attack on our language.

Marriage is something a man and a woman enter into. If a man and a man or a woman and a woman or a man and a dolphin or any other combination enter into something it is something other than a marriage.

It doesn't change the arrangement that you have entered into, it changes marriage and what that word means.

I can only compare it to if they were trying to expand the definition of cat to include my dog. My dog might like being classified as a cat, and the culture making them call him a cat but the pup is a dog.

The point is that Marriage is a gift from YHVH. It is not something from the state! The state has interfered, and requires "marriage licenses" and paying a bribe to the state. My feeling is that we should leave the state out of it, and not get marriage licenses. The Almighty said render to Cesar what is His, and to YHVH what is His. (I suppose you are clear as to what YHVH said about same sex unions??)
