I've got a rough throat that hurts to swallow, throat lozenges don't help at all, water sort of does, but not really.

Any home remedies?

Go to the health food store or herbalist
and ask for "Slippery Elm Lozenges",
explain to them about the sore throat
and ask them to recommend a brand.
Fisherman's Friend has this ingredient
in them, but it is usually too harsh for
most folks, but it is the only thing that
knocks out a sore throat without having
to use other OTC medications.
Everyone in my family is allergic
to acetaminophen and we've learned over
the years, what to get, to stop the throat from hurting.

500 mls of hot water, plus a table spoon and a half of lemon juice and a table spoon of honey :) Works for me! Another one would be eating a popsicle....keep yourself warm, try not to smoke too much (if you're a smoker) and if you're coughing up phlegm, make sure you spit it out, don't swallow it :) keep lots of fluids in you and breathe through your noce so you don't "dry out" your throat.

Please feel better! and have a merry christmas

Best thing that I've found is hot tea and massaging your throat. Honey and lemon in your tea is wonderful to solve it. Hopefully you can drink it :)

Good luck!

Warm tea with honey, maybe a vaporizor at night.
