This is sure a common question. I guess it needs constant answering. The confusion will occur if you think of evolution as a ladder instead of a tree. One species doesn't change into one other species. Species branch out. Sometimes a new species branches from one but groups of the old stay much the same. Maybe some apes stayed in trees and didn't need to change. Others ventured out to the savannas and needed to start walking upright.

next time.. if you want a more accurate response .. try asking in the Anthropology section ..
we did not evolve from *apes and monkeys* and to make it simple .. evolution is like a tree .. with many branches .. things dont evolve through a straight line .. they branch out.
your question is the very basic of anthropology .. why dont u do some research if you are further curious or go to your library.. the answer to your question will be on the 1st page .. lol

Humans are a type of ape. We evolved at the same time as gorillas, chimps and other primates were evolving. At some point, millions of years ago, we shared a common ancestor that is long gone.

it comes to the point that Charles Darwin is Liar, apes really are apes and humans are human.... and creation is the real fact than evolution... if i ask you something, if you see a very beautiful mansion, will you believe that it just occur in a sudden there? without someone who build it? of course no!! maybe you can think about it, and realize that evolution is just a human opinion

Well, that WOULD be a legitimate question, had humans evolved from apes.
You know, people's skin got lighter as they migrated north, eventually lightening from an almost pitch darkness to completely white. So why are there still dark skinned people?
Not everyone evolves.

So one day Jack the chimp and his brother Sam the chimp and their respective girlfriends split up. Jack went west and Sam went east.
East, where Sam went, was pretty much just like where he had come from. He had lots of little baby chimps, one who looked kinda funny and died pretty soon, but everything was hunky dory.
West, however, was much different. Jack had a baby chimp who also looked funny, but did much better over here. So while lots of his kids died, this one survived pretty well, and he had lots of babies too who were a lot like him.
Fast forward several hundred thousand years or so and in the west, there are humans, descended from our long dead friend Jack the chimp. They are very well suited to this environment because they evolved this way.
In the east, Sam's descendants are still chimps just like he was. They are suited to their environment too.
That's kinda simplified, but I hope this helps and you can understand it better. XD

Your question really has very little merit. If of humans, there was a little group, say hidden in the mountains somewhere, and because the kept inbreeding, maybe they developed extra fingers. Clearly this only happened to a small group of people, and most folks were "normal".

Darwin was a scientist, and evolution is a scientific theory, so if you are really curious about evolution you should ask this question in the science section. Or maybe not, because they'd probably laugh at you even harder than we will. I suspect your question is just a veiled plea for validation.

You might try asking this in the science section, because other wise all you will basically get is *drink* answers.
Monkeys still exist because we share a common ancestor. You know, like you and your distant cousin share a common ancestor? Evolution isn't a ladder, its more like a branching tree.
