I was shocked by a recent question from a 6th grader (11 years old) regarding a boy and dating.

At what age are kids actually going out now and do parents get involved in this? I can't believe a parent would allow a 6th grader to go out by themselves, would they?

Uh...Tony Burke, I think you need to read my question again, I am not a 6th grader, I'm an adult!

i had a boyfriend in 6th grade, but nothing really happens, and my cousin had one in 3rd grade with a 2nd grader, but until like 8th grade, nothing really happens except they say i love you , but at that age they are just saying it to say, not cause they mean it.

UMMMMM No ! Why well the world would love for a parent to be that stupid !
Watch The news okay..... And If you think it's ok then go back to the first grade and ask a first grader why!
You'll get a real good answer ther too.
Just in case you don't follow my advice and pick my answer as the best answer. Let me please explain Ever heard of date rape sexual predators kid knappers? I am 47 years old male and never had any children But if I did and someone tried to hurt my child they would never see a court room they would never get life in prision.... I'd have to well you understand being a 6th grader and no you wouldn't be going out on what they call a car date you'd be riding a bicycle and going out with 20 girl and boyfriends and If I were your parents you'd have a childs cell phone so you could call home every hour...... just because of this type of question WAKE UP!

I think that the age of dating these days all depends on the kid themselves. My sister herself is a little 3rd grader and has "boyfriends". Whereas my other sister is a 6th grader and hates boys. So i think it all depends on the individual child.

And on the 6th graders going out by themselves i think it would depend on 2 things.
1.Where they are going.
2.How much trust the parent and child have.

um, yeah, some parents are really stupid, ...no other word for it.
I'd say it depends on the kid, but i dont believe it does, ...kids, boy or girl, shouldnt be allowed to date until they are 16. And i'm not talking about ...meeting up at the movies or malls or whatever, ....i mean a "car date"...

well it depends on what you consider "dating" to be. When i was 13, 14 i use 2 hang out with girls and even kind of had a girl friend but looknig back nothing was serious until i was like 17. They were just more crushes back then.

Young! kids are growing up too fast these days! 11 seems about right for dating age! its young but they dont do anything naughty at that age! 12 is the naughty age
