It really bothers me when people are mean for no reason. And, obviously, there's always going to be nasty people in the world. It also really bothers me a lot when I hear or see other people being treated badly. Like when I see racist things on Yahoo Q&A- it really makes me angry, and depressed that so many people are so eager to hurt another person as much as possible. How can I develop a thicker skin so I don't get my feelings hurt so easily? How can I deal with people mistreating me or others, without stooping to their level?

Did anyone else have this problem? How did you deal with it?

I think a lot of people struggle with this. If you look closely,,,most people dont have such thick-skin as they would like you to think.

Not letting people's opinions of you or others effect you personally takes time. That being said, theres absolutely nothing wrong with not wanting others to be treated badly, etc. It makes you human.

You do NOT have a problem. You're perfectly normal, actually.

Why do you want to become jaded and insensitive to these things?! lol

Your sensitivity is RARE and PRECIOUS to the world right now!

We need more people who are passionate about righting these wrongs.

Don't just be emotionally charged though, go out and DO something. Stand up for people. Make friends with a lonely kid at school.

Too many people think they know how to fix the world, but they DO ABSOLUTELY

NOTHING.

Be one of the few, the ones who aren't afraid to stick up for someone else.

Let me help you. I get mad at people who exploit people, and people who think being brainwashed is all fine. What I do is go find something that makes me mad and complain about it to other people who feel the same way. It may not help you develop thicker skin, but it'll help you deal with it.

The reaction you feel is normal. Why build a soul-callus on it?
