Because I realized one day that I was believing in something just for the sake of believing. I'm Agnostic now.

Because it's full of shxt.

Uhm. I have a good reason.

So I go to catholic school still, right? And the kids in the grade above me have a crazy priest as their religion teacher.
So on their exam, he had this one essay question-
"On 9/11, many people in the upper floors of the world trade centers jumped out the windows instead of waiting inside to be burned to death. These people knew fully well that jumping out the windows was suicide. Was it a sin for them to jump out the windows and commit suicide, and should they have remained inside and been burned alive?"

That's why I'm not catholic anymore. Or how they feel the need to stop me from loving whomever I want to or reading whatever I please, that's why I'm not catholic. I'm not catholic because my reproductive system is my business, and I don't want anyone else to try and control it.

I was polytheist for a while after I gave up on christianity, because I saw paganism as a sort of happy, there-are-really-no-dumb-rules-or-hiearchies-here! sort of thing, but I quickly realised the lies that it all was, and am now a happy and satisfied atheist. XD

Because organized religion has been the root cause of death of millions through out history. (i'll get a good many thumbs down for saying that....even though ITS TRUE)

Because its filled with a slew of arrogant narrowminded fools who refuse to accept responsibility for those past deeds ( unless its centuries later and really doesn’t matter).

Because the Church sermons seem more of a political rally than actually about God

Because I am so SICK of seeing the same old line "do as I say not as I do"

I'd rather stay home and read my Bible and keep my faith than loose my self respect and honor individuals who have none.

I think it started because I felt prayers went unanswered. That really just opened me up to question. Over the years, I realize more and more that it just doesn't make sense-Jesus being our savior. I lean toward Buddhism today. But I question supernatural elements of any faith. But I really like the humanity elements of any faith.

I realized that religion was just a lie about God.

Now I have a close personal relationship with God and I avoid religion like a plague.

I started reading the bible, I became a born again Christian and I realized that a lot of the Catholic beliefs are more pagan in origin and practice. Also, some of their practices are very unbiblical and contrary to what the bible teaches.

I left Catholicism for the more natural, more reasonable, and more free atheistic perspective I am proud to acknowledge now.

Mainly that the message didn't ring true in the way that it was presented to me, I am Universalist/ Pagan now... Why? Well, I believe that the great truths of the universe are presented in all of religious thought, but in different ways, some people get it when it's presented one way, someone else understands better when it's presented another way. Pagan beliefs are more in line with my personal out look and relationship with the cosmos..........
