A good leader is able to make other people lead themselves. They can do so by example; they can do so by "truth". But I am more inclined to believe that the first will get the desired results easier.

Example. Just because no one really knows the truth. People know what they THINK is the truth, and for some, that's enough. I'm an athiest though.
And to Catlady- Why are you like bashing Christians for the way they view things? Does it matter? It's just their opinion, it doesn't make them wrong. No one's religious beliefs are ever wrong. It's a belief, it can be anything they want it to be.

If by "a really good leader" you mean one who stays a leader for a long time and gets a lot of things done, then I'd have to say that:
A good leader leads by lies, manipulation, rhetoric, propaganda, and appeal to people's emotions.
A cursory glance at people who have had the title "Great" over the history of the world will support this, I think...
It's our own fault. People are by and large very stupid, so it's not that hard to make the masses do whatever you want if you know how to work them...

A good leader leads by example.
Truth? WTF is truth? That He is risen and blah blah blah. I prefer the term "reality," as "truth" has been hijacked by religious nutjobs.
Edit: ok, so christians say both and atheists say example. Only christians are naive enough to think that there is an objective truth.
Sarra: it is a free country, and if I say that you are a moron for believing in the virgin birth and Resurrection, it is my right. And how can you say that people's opinions are never wrong? Ever heard of Hitler?

Example and truth.
Uhh catlady, I'm atheist and meant truth in the logical sense that the word is meant for.
A really good leader will make people believe that their views ARE the truth. Ei) Hitler.
