I hate waking up. Its the hardest part of my life (easy life I know) so I dont want an 8-4 mon-fri job. atleast not till im alot older (not yet 22). I dont mind working with people. I have thick skin and can be polite under any circumstances. However, I want to make alot of money. not to spend, but to invest so later I wont be forced to work. time is money, money is choice. I wanted to avoid school and go into business, but long term it is not safe. anyone willing to work hard for less will steal my contracts, therefore its less than stable. so i was thinking about engineering, achitect, pharmacist. something that has a built in protection for the guy with the degree. school is a big risk,(money being spent instead of made) right now i could bail on business n prob be picked up by corrections canada within a year. but thats my failsafe. Ive talked to alot of csc guys, and there is no middle ground. its either get in man the moneys great, or dont even think about it, its not worth it!

real estate is tempting, because i want to learn about appraising properties. but I dont want to sell, I see them as croc toothed used car salesmen. I dont think im aone in this; I cant see the value in homes. the prices some homes fetch for the purpose they serve/materials they are made from dont seem to add up. any thoughts?

not pharmacist, unless you open your own pharmacy, and you ;will lose customers if you are not there to open. Oh, of course, you hire someone to open! Sorry!
Forget architect, unless you live in philadelphia or along the coast. Slim pickin's elsewhere in the country, well, maybe not Houston.

Engineering is good as long as the company allows flex-time so you can arrive late.

Get a degree while you are young! In anything! Then you go back later when you find what you want, take the 10 courses and voila! You have a new major. You do not want to skip the college degree and then years later be blocked from a job due to that lack, and there you will be with children and you are stuck. Just get the degree.

What you should do is get a bachelor's degree, then Masters of Business Administration and try to become a CEO of a company. Now there's where the money is.

You are like most young Americans. But I was told very young I had to crawl before I could walk. Most college grads. think they are above anything but sitting at a desk, but someone has to do the work. All jobs are important, if they are honorable. Some 8-4 jobs can be rewarding. Nothing wrong with a trade that suites your interest. You will need money, but you will never get enough. Most people take a lessor job until a better one comes open. I took 4 moving up on each one 'till I found one I liked and paid well. So be patient and watch your debt load.

I think you should go into the military. If you stay in long enough you can retire at about 42-45 yrs of age. You can also "triple dip" when it comes to age 65. You would have Social Security (if it's still there), a retirement from the military, and any investments you may make.
If this isn't an option, pharmacists are starting out at $70,000 per year right out of school and there is a huge shortage of them predicted to in at least 2020.

As a retired CO, I can tell you the money is good, but never good enough for what you do. If you like working with people, it might be the right job for you. Give it a try, as you can always resign.
