how old are you? you say they are spending christmas with you.

I actually know how you feel. I have a home of my own, my own children and grandchildren, but people (family, extended family, etc.) shows up without an invite. My place is like a revolving door on christmas day.

We try to open gifts before anyone come or even on christmas eve.

Good luck

Haul your presents to your room and keep them there until you get some private time to open them. You can go thank your parents with a hug and a few words when the moment permits.

The invasion of extended family is common during the holidays. Consider it something of a historical event... try to detach and be cordial, and listen to the family history being spoken. You will be surprised at how rare these get-togethers are going to become. By the time you hit your 30s, the only time you will be seeing most of these relatives will be at funerals.

You have a whole year in front of you to have your parents to yourself.

Well did you invite them? Do you live with your parents? I mean if you have your own home you should be able to limit who is there by not inviting people. If you are in your parents home and THEY invited them there isnt much you can do. Next time someone says they are coming say, ' No that wont work' Invitations are proper. I guess I dont understand because we only invite people we want. When are they leaving?? Perhaps you could postpone and on Wednesday have your own private family time? OR can you say that you will have help them find a motel to stay in since something came up? I mean thats why God made hotels! so everyone can have a little space. Its well worth the money.

Why can't you open your presents?

are they staying at your house? If they are just coming over for the day open them before they get there. Tell your parents how you feel as well...
