please take someone with you that has done this before, because it sounds like when the salesperson is through with you, then will have you buying stuff that you will not need nor have no idea what it is for.

This all depends on what state you live in and how your credit is. If you have good credit, you should be able to sign and drive. If you're paying cash and not financing, you probably won't need a cosigner. As far as insurance, you must have insurance before you're allowed to drive off the lot. At least in the state of Florida. You receive your license plate about 3-4 weeks after the dealership registers the vehicle and files the paper work. They will give you a temporary tag that will last for a month. The whole process usually takes a while. The dealership should take care of everything and all you have to do is agree on the price and sign. Don't back down, stay firm, they'll make money, no matter what they say. good luck.

A lot of questions, but lets see if I can answer some of them. First don't jump at the first price the dealer asks. You can usually do better. This is especially true at the end of a slow month, when the dealer has to move his inventory in order to make room for more cars. When you do make a deal, you will sign a purchase agreement, and probably pick up the car within two days. The dealer usual can handle the registration for you, but you will pay for that. When picking up the vehicle, you most likely will need two checks, one for the car, and the other for the sales tax. The dealer will tell you this. Everything can be in your name only. It depends on state law as to the length of time, that you have to get the vehicle inspected. The dealer may have this service, or you may have a few days to get it done. Keep your sales agreement with the car, should you be stopped by the police, it will show the date of purchase, and that it is a new to you vehicle.

Ok Well I'm 19 and I just bought my car so I will tell you how my process went.
First off I went to the dealer and looked at the car took it for a test drive ect.
WHen i decided which one i wanted me and the dealer went through all the money detalis, if i am financing and what not, then i wrote check (of you can us credit) i didn't finane so if you are doing that there may be extra steps. And he asked for my insurance information...like the number
THen i went home and he said he's call me when the plates come in.
So i wait about a week it is usaully no less than 3 days no more than 2 weeks and he calls me and tell me i can pick the car up, it has the plates and the registation sticker already own it and that's good for i belive a year or more, and when you pik up the car your it's like it was just inspected that day so to speak and you woulkdnt have to get an inspection any sooner than if you owned the cars for years (i'm not sure how long that is)
But Basically they take care of anything.
To answer your question about having your name on it only, if you are going to finaince it depends on your credit you may need a co sighner, if you are paying cash (check) then it could just be your name.
I hope i helped, Good luck

Your in a great spot.. By Sept. that SUV should sell for just about what you have.. When you select what you want, make sure you have it checked out by a mechanic of your choosing.. Also have it looked up on CAR FAX by VIN serial number to check for any collision damages, or even salvage title.. Yes if your paying for it outright, you can put it in your name solely..You will be given a 30 day tag from the dealer, and after that you'll buy your hard plates.. Also a car that age should come with a warranty, and some have an automatic power train (engine & transmission guarantee ,so many miles) An inspection varies with each state and municipality.. You will definitely want insurance, and you MUST carry it to be legal.. Good Idea is to pick out the car ,get a mechanic to look at it and have him put it up on a lift and also check it out underneath.. Most reliable dealerships will allow this.. If they don't, you don't want the car from them... Hope this helps, I remember my first buy , and its great, but you have to be careful... BEST OF LUCK!! SOLOMON

YOU DON'T WANT TO GO BY YOURSELF FIRST OF ALL, TAKE SOMEONE WITH YOU WHO KNOWS ABOUT CARS, SO THAT THE PERSON CAN ALSO INSPECT THE CAR UNDER THE HOOD MORE. MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE GETTING A GOOD DEAL, YOU MIGHT WANT TO GET ONE OF THE BLUE BOOK VALUE BOOKS, AND YOU WILL SIGN WHEN YOU SAY YOU WANT THE CAR AND THEY GIVE YOU THE KEYS, BUT BEFORE THE CAR LOT LET YOU LEAVE OFF THE LOT YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE INSURANCE. EITHER YOU CAN GO THROUGH THEM OR YOU CAN GET YOUR OWN, YOU PROBABLY BE BEST GETTING YOUR OWN INSURANCE, AND BECAUSE YOUR UNDER 25 IT'S GONNA BE HIGH! JUST SO YOUR PREPARED. YOU CAN HAVE EVERYTHING IN YOUR NAME, IF YOUR GOING TO BE BUYING THE CAR YOURSELF. YOU CAN GET YOUR LICENSE PLATE WHEN YOU SHOW PROOF OF OWNERSHIP, AND HAVE A VALID REGISTRATION AND TITLE. NOW, AS FAR AS THE INSPECTION STICKER, THAT'S NOT BEING DONE ANYMORE, WELL, AT LEAST NOT WHERE I LIVE! SO, THERE'S NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT THAT THAT O.K AND GOOD LUCK ON GETTING YOUR NEW CAR!!!LOL.

You'd go to the dealership, and pick out your car.
You'd sign the papers right then and there. You'd drive car off the lot.
Everything will be in your name.
You'd get a temp licence plate if the car is brand new, new ones will come in the mail. If it is a used car, the licence plates will be on the car already.
If the car is past inspection.. tell them to inspect it! We didn't buy a brand new car, we bought a used one... and everything was already on the car.
talk to your insurance agecy (or the one you plan on using)... I dont know how long the law gives you to get insurance. It's no more than 15 days or so.
If you are buying a used car... TEST EVERYTHING on a car. EVERYTHING.
--bring a knowledgeable adult with you. Yes they aren't buying the car.. but you could get seriously ripped off. --
--Dont be afraid to ASK QUESTIONS (to the dealer of course)--

I sold car and managed autos dealerships of over 30 yrs. buying a used car can be tricky. I would stick to a new car dealer, and if take help if you have someone you trust, dealers can be very persuasive, only sign when you are sure you are getting the car you want at the price you want. A lot of dealers have a turn over system, where the salesman show you a car and takes a offer to the manager, then they send in asst mgrs to close the deal.

easy easy question...
why dont you try Toyota yaris s 2007 about 14000, great fuel economy and nice shape. if you want your monthly payment low you can ask to lease the car, .go to DMV to get a lincense plate, first time you buy a car the inspection will be done by the dealer and you will get a letter when it expire, it also show on the stickers. you have to sign some paper , not alot . if you buy for your own car everything will be under your name...
make sure you have car insurance before you start driving.
you can get car insurance anywhere such as ALLSTATE, state farm , ajj , there so many of them

While I congratulate you on saving money to purchase a car, I would consider a car loan to build your credit history at your age. If you can pay it off in a year with a large down payment, you can do wonders for yourself in the future.
As for buying the car, shop around, check ebay and nada.com for pricing. Check the VIN with a carfax report, and go around the body tapping or with magnet to find if there is bondo repair. Get a mechanic to check it out, with a compression test on engine to make sure the crap isnt kicked out of it.
Dont buy high mileage or salvage title vehciles. A few dollars more for low mileage will allow the car to last that much longer.
MAJOR RULE TO FOLLOW: never fall in love with a car. If you do, you will get taken advantage of. If you pay cash, you will get a bill of sale, but likely title wont arrive for 15-20 days. If you take a loan, you need full coverage for insurance, and a car of that value, I would recommend it. As for inspection stickers, you need to check with your state DMV, but I would assume within 30 days in order to license your car.
