I know that if it says parchment the general rule is "they mean parchment," especially when baking. I am getting ready to make candy, pouring melted chocolate into a pan. It says to pour onto parchemnt, but I am out. Is using Pam an option for me?

Pam has a new product out, it's oil "plus" flour that you can use. But using the Pam you have plus flour is fine....for baking, however I'm not so sure you want "flour" on your candy, and Pam is a little greasy. Why not wait till you can get some parchment.

Trust me! it will melt! (the wax paper)
it's happened to me before...and it totally ruins your stuff...
I would use the pam...heck, even some clean paper that you have lying around the house if you're going to pour chocolate over it. I'm not sure it would work, but I might do that. Like, some plain white computer paper...because basically you just don't want the chocolate to stick to the pan, and possibly (depending on the recipe) you might need an overhang of parchment so you can lift the candy out without cracking it. I wonder if it would work...not saying it will for sure. Don't use this if you don't think it will work...I don't want to ruin your xmas or something :)

It might be tricky to get out of the pan if you use just Pam. I'd try a little bit first. You could try the wax paper also. I'd probably go with the wax paper. Good luck.

Parchment means parchment! When baking.
Wax paper will melt & oil will affect the chocolate.
If not baking, Saran Wrap may be sufficient.

Usually on wax paper, the top part is waxed and the other side is not. Turn it over, and then use a little Pam and it should be fine.

Using wax paper is fine. I use it instead of parchment paper when I make candy.

Yes, to both. I never buy parchment, but use either a sprayed (or even better, BUTTERED) pan, or waxed paper.

If you are not putting it into the oven using waxed paper is fine.
