It seems as soon as Constantine, Clement, and others picked and edited what they wanted and persecuted Gnostics for their own reasons, isn't this sinfull ,man-made Catholicism wrong that also protects pedophiles. This seems like a religion that is the opposite of what Christ taught. I believe when Jesus said Peter was his rock., it all went downhill from there. There needas to be a new rock not built on quicksand

well dustryscribe, by the way appropriate, we should not worship Christ with a bible that has been falsely edited and promoted.

I guess none of you understand my question. I am saying the Catholic church has been full of sin since the beginning and they have used Jesus' church to accumulate power and money, not to teach Christianity

I guess we will have to start a campaign, we'll call it "Just say No to Constantine and say yes to Jesus"

Jesus is the Rock upon which the Church was built; not Peter. Perhaps that's why things got so fouled up in the RC Church.

Christianity is being reborn every single day. Some of the reformers are conservative and some are very liberal. But, there are new churches that are even concentrating on the original Q and the so-called Gnostic Gospels.

The answer to your question is that some probably do and some probably don't. (If this is a question)

Why remove teaching through stories? Most religions teach though parables including Buddhism, Native American Religions (which are almost exclusively handed down from one story teller to another), and even the pop- religions are based an not so factual tales of Merlin and the Arthurian legend.

Stories are used because they work. The listener is permitted to visualize a personal version of every tale.

Anyone who protects child abusers is wrong. You can't throw away a whole batch because of a few bad apples. Even if you feel that you were thrown out of society yourself. If you were molested as a child you need to seek personal counseling, not take out your frustration on anonymous answerers.

Hello,

No. History must be studied and judged in the standards and contexts of those times and not by today's. Heresies and later the Reformation was a just as clear and present danger to those societies in those times where church and state were intertwined as communism and now Islamic fundamentalism are in these times.

As for pedophiles, nobody seems to have a monopoly on sweeping the situation under the blankets from fashion designers who dress 13 year olds like hookers through to the Internet servers who are reluctant to rat their clients out. Did we not just see a Mormon leader get put away for 14 years or so for the same reason?

Catholicism claims that Peter was their first Pope. This isn't true historically. In the Greek term, "Petros" means "small rock" or pebble. "Petra" in Greek refers to Jesus; it means "rock" or "bedrock". This is what Jesus was saying to Peter when He said, "Upon this Rock I will build My Church, and the gates of Hell should not prevail against it."

There is nothing to restart or redo. It's a matter of waking people up to the deception of the whole thing.

Time to distinguish between Christianity and Catholicism, then between modern church and the first century church.

As a Protestant theologian, I do not believe that anything needs to be deleted and Christianity restarted.

There are so many untruths and false suppositions in your argument, I can't begin to address them.

No. but the athority of the church needs to be removed from the hands of men who wish to defame it.
