He's a grand little dog, but small, how much do you let them grow before most vets will do the surgery?

5-6 months old is the best and check with the vet and make sure he knows about the small dogs. I have had 2 pound dogs/pups done before
I have 1 female that is 1 1/2 pounds and I can't find a vet that feels safe doing a dog that is that small.

Check with your vet most will around 4-6 months of age but it does go by the weight and health of the pet also after checking it the vet will tell you a safe time

I know some vet's will do it as young as 8 weeks, but most vet's want to wait til they are 6 months.

I had a 2lb 5 month old Chihuahua neutered last year because he was showing signs of sexual maturity. He did just fine. I had a 3lb one done this year at the same age.

Thanks for waning to do the responsible thing

The safe age is usually around 6 months. I think the mimimum weight is 2 pounds.

5-6 months or 3-5lbs, but check with your local vets because they are all a little different and can usually work with you if you have a special situation.

3lbs and 8 weeks is usually the cutoff.

I had my cat done at 10 weeks and 3 lbs and it went very smoothly, she had a very quick recovery.
