it doesnt have a bread like texture all cakes have bread like texture, regular cakes , donuts, brownies and they dont have a crust etc. pies have a crust, and a filling cheesecake filling is like that of a pumpkin or sweet potato pie so why is it called a cake instead of a pie

cakes have flour in them which chesecake doesnt unless you count the crust and all pie crust have flour in them

chessecake has the same density of sweetpotato pie and custard pie, if you have a slice of custard pie and cheese cake you cant tell the differance unless you smell or taste them

i have seen pumkin and sweetpotato pies bakes in cake pans before, when someone was making a deep dish pie and not using a store brought pie shell but making it thereselves

Probably because Cheesepie doesn't sound as appetizing. Think about it, would you like to eat at a place called the Cheesepie Factory??

I think it's because it's not baked in a pie pan/plate, but in a cake pan (springform or otherwise)
