It must make them feel that their religion is somehow validated when others agree with them. If I needed pats on the back to validate my religion, it would mean that I don't have very much faith in it -- and I'd find another religion.
Wiccan do not proselytize since we feel that if it is your chosen path, your true calling...you will find it yourself. If it's not your chosen -- why would we want you? You are not going to study, you're not going to really care. After reading this, maybe other religions will follow suit? I doubt it, since many religions don't care if you study and educate yourself -- they just want you to do as you're told and bring money on Sundays. Sad. Now don't get me wrong: do as ye will. Just stop trying to tell me that your religion is what my heart truly wants. (Geez, I'm so tired of that one. How could you possibly know what my heart truly wants? I am already doing what my heart truly wants.)
Sorry I had to go on like that, but I just got some emails from someone concerned about my soul, lol. Quite a nasty little troll, too. After opening my retort, I'll bet his monitor is burning like the hell fire he promised me.

I dont get that either. I mean, you can really be into a religion, but that doesnt mean everyone around you should be. I never got the idea of converting someone. It does say-Freedom of religion-right? It also means, if you dont choose to have a religion-that's also your perogative. I think it's a really big turn off for someone to try to stuff their religion down my throat. In my opinion-that does more harm than good, but it is just my opinion.

Wow, when exactly was the last time a religion held guns to peoples head and said join or else.
How does one force another into their religion?
Nice loaded question.

A mystery to folks like me. Why or how people get off on telling and preaching to others about IMAGINARY deities is way beyond my comprehension. Everything is made up, their bible is but copy of other more ancient texts that were created by old story tellers and now there are so many denominations stemming from the one, that none can actually follow the original fables and tales. Amazing.

Because people can't just accept that people think differently than them.
They think they THEY are right, and that they must force their own religion on everyone just because they can't stand the fact that someone thinks something else.
Then, their excuse is they they care about the person they're trying to convert, and they want them to live a nice life "by the light of god", or whatever.
It's really pathetic, actually.

Its basically to confirm to themselves that they made the right choice by getting others to believe.
I love hearing about all religions, they are very interesting to me, but there is a fine line that is crossed when someone starts to sell their religion to you.
Like all salesmen, you can just say not interested.

well, because religion is about gaining and maintaining control of the masses. and it's conveniently self perpetuating as believers assert religious control by proxy converting nonbelievers and new believers converts more new believers and so on and so on. in this way the money flows into the worship centers, attitudes and behaviors are strictly kept in uniform, control is maintained and profited from in money and power. it's about shearing the sheeple and sometimes sending them to the slaughter.

Because their religion tells them that anyone who doesn't follow their religion is doomed to eternal torment in hell. They feel they are doing others a favor by attempting to "save their soul." That type of mindset scares me. It just promotes us them attitudes and perpetuates hatred and discrimination. Why can't people just worship (or not) as they see fit and leave others alone.

like communism, dogmatic religion depends on a lack of competing ideas to survive. if there's another source of truth, then the believers will constantly be tempted with better and more tolerant ideas, and the religion will lose its battle for world domination.

They lack talent and diplomatic tackness. Con men have it over them in intellect, but they believe they are doing the right thing. They are not fully prepared, and do a diservice out of their self-rightiousness.
