because they don't have health insurance?

It happens all the time, right here in America. Just a few years ago a boy in my state was denied treatment at a hospital after being bit by a poisonous snake, and died.

How is it that so many wealthy conservative Christians are against universal health coverage? If we are to follow the teachings of Jesus, shouldn't we be helping others? Instead of letting them die when we have the ability to save them, simply because they are poor?

I am a Christian and I am for health coverage for everyone. No child should have to go without it, food, clothing, etc. We are a rich enough society that our children should take priority. Jesus told us to take care of the poor.

Oh come now Priscilla, this sounds like a social engineering and 'the government will take care of all of your needs' question. What do you suppose Jesus thought about the health care situation when he was here on earth? What kind of Universal Health Care so you suppose they had in the year 28 AD? Come on, shouldn't you try to shoe horn this question into the politics category. Oh by the way I have no intention of casting any vote for the 'Reverse Carpetbagger' Hilary. You have a very Merry Christmas now.

George Bush has denied a $60 billion medicaid program to poor children, and he claims to be a christian.

Of course we all know he wants the money for more wars, but thats not how a christian is supposed to behave.

so no IMO Jesus would NOT be in favour of ANY sick people being denied treatment.

Do not lay that at the door of Christians, honey. The corruption and greed in the healthcare / insurance relationship goes deeper than most people realize, or care to know.
If that boy that you speak of was taken to a county funded hospital, and not a private hospital, he would never have been refused treatment. The law states that people must be given treatment, even if they do not have insurance, and can not afford treatment. A privately-owned hospital must have been where that boy was taken.
In any case, why try to lay that in the laps of Christians? Lay it where it belongs, namely in the lap of wealthy hospital owners, and doctors with no regard whatsoever for human life, but for only filthy lucre (money).
Give me a break. Next, you'lll be blaming Christians for the heartless care that people receive in nursing homes. Get real.

To Viper above: Viper is a good name for you. It is most clear that you are a child of Satan, and shall be rewarded as such. Repent, for the time of the Lord of Hosts is at hand.

You ask a very manipulative question!

First and foremost Jesus is against sickness of any kind.

Second you should look at the other countries that have universal health coverage and how much deprivation and poor health care they actually get. The people of these countries have warned us against it!

This is not a rich or poor issue it is a quality and responsibility issue.

Our Constitution gives us the "RIGHT" to "Pursue" Life, Liberty and Happiness... It does not grant a guarantee for it, you need to pursue it and obtain it for yourself. It is the opportunity given, not the source to leach off of.

Wealthy Conservative Christians???
How about greedy capitalists. That fits.
There are many Christian funded hospitals and emergency services.
It's the ones who put profit before life.

No, Jesus would not in favor of turning anyone sick children, or anyone in need of care just because they don't have health insurance. But, we live in a world, where just about everything is about money.

Truth be told, if you don't have any no one wants to be bothered. It is all about can you pay.

The love of money is the root of all evil.
They will be found out and held accountable for every decision they made that condemned someone to death,on the day of judgement.

Of course not. Jesus would be appalled at what his followers have become: selfish, hateful and mean spirited.

The majority of conservative Christians care nothing about their fellow men. They say that they do but continually fail to put their money where their mouth is.
