Then I really do not know what to tell you. There are no such things as Teacup Chihuahuas and Chihuahuas are so small already, why make them smaller? Go for a good Chihuahua from a reputable breeder, or go onto Petfinder.com!

Add: are you just trying to get people all worked up? Miniature Dachshunds? Teacup poodles? Can you please find something better to do in your spare time!

Sadly, there is no such thing as a "teacup chihuahua." Chihuahuas do come in all sorts or sizes and colors,yes.. but they are of the TOY family. A teacup chihuahua is simply the offspring of a small chihuahua.. leading the breeder to believe that these chihuahuas will be small. However, due to genes passed throughout chihuahuas, two very small chihuahuas may produce larger offspring. A "teacup chihuahua" is really only a regular chihuahua that breeders have given a ritzy name to, expecting people to pay more for a puppy that will be smaller than the average. Even then, your puppy may turn out to be up to 6 or 8 pounds. Anyone who is selling you these puppies as "teacup chihuahuas" is already proving their ignorance by labeling a dog with a fictional breed. Showing their ignorance, the breeder has also poorly bred these chihuahuas.. leading to many health problems, and possibly bad traits, such as yappy or rather mean dogs. As you will have the same chance of having a small dog either way, i would suggest you check into the chihuahuas costing $150. These people obviously have more sense.. and seem much more responsible.

Yes, we all know how to read. However, we're trying to give you advice before you make a mistake. There's NO such thing as "teacup". It's a cutsy name irresponsible breeder slap onto super tiny puppies who are riddled with potential health problems. No good breeder would EVER advertise as teacup. Go to the AKC website. Do you see "teacup chihuahua" as a breed? Do you see it under the Chihuahua standard as a size? No. The AKC states a Chihuahua should not exceed 6 pounds, therefore, a 3 pound Chihuahua would still be a Chihuahua. Not "teacup", "toy", or "micro" anything.

I recommend you not get one before you spend time doing your research and realize that Chihuahuas come in one size. A "teacup" Chihuahua will most likely drain your wallet and emotions.

And if someone came on here asking for a Teacup Great Dane, are we not supposed to say there is no such thing?

Here's the deal. Teacup is a term that's not recognized or permitted by the Chihuahua Club of America. Therefore, the term "teacup" is not a type of Chihuahua. There are smaller Chihuahuas that some bad breeders and puppy mills will label as teacup. However, by using that term, they prove that they are ignorant and bad breeders. Why would you want to buy a dog from someone like that? If they are lying about terminology, what else are they lying about?

Here's the CCA's statement on Teacups:
http://www.chihuahuaclubofamerica.com/teacup.htm

These are the types of dogs that these bad breeders breed: http://www.nsalamerica.org/campaigns/chihuahuas/

So, if you want a Chihuahua, the best thing to do is to either rescue a dog that meets your size desires, or to find a good breeder and talk to them.

Good luck and I hope that you are responsible enough to do your homework and not support someone who doesn't deserve your money.

http://www.petfinder.com lists chihuahuas and some of them are indeed VERY small.

Added: "People dont you know how to read?"

I sure do, and that's why I know there is no such thing as a Teacup Chihuahua. Don't you? Or do you just want to stand there and stamp your feet because some nasty backyard breeder and paris hilton told you that there is such a term?

well, there is no such thing as a teacup chihuahua so what do you expect us to say. There are only Chihuahua's who vary in weight between 3-6 pounds. Some bad breeders sell chihuahua's as "teacups" before they should leave home (ie 6 weeks so they look smaller when a chi shouldnt leave mom until 12 weeks old) and a lot of people breed small sick chis to get smaller (and usually SICK) chi's. I guess the question is how much do you want to pay for your dog to be healthy.

There is no such thing. Some breeders will take the runts of the litter and call them teacups.

If you don't believe me, maybe you will believe The Chihuahua Club Of America: Although such terms as "teacup," "pocket size," "tiny toy," "miniature," and "standard" have been used to describe different-sized Chihuahuas, the Chihuahua Club of America issued a statement stressing that these descriptions are misleading. Their statement reads:
"Unfortunately, the additional adjectives used to describe the size differences and physical appearances are many and have been misused for so long they now seem legitimate. Teacup, Pocket Size, Tiny Toy, Miniature or Standard - are just a few of the many tags and labels that have been attached to this breed over the years. The Chihuahua Club of America is concerned that these terms may be used to entice prospective buyers into thinking that puppies described in this way are of greater monetary value. They are not and the use of these terms is incorrect and misleading."[4]
The Chihuahua Club of America and the American Kennel Club only recognizes two types of Chihuahuas - the Long-haired and the Short-haired Chihuahua.

This is part of the Wikipedia entry for Chihuahua.

I can read but apparently you haven't done your research so I will say there is no such things as teacup in any breed.
These pups called by such a name is a very sickly dog in most cases. Or maybe you don't want the long time responsability of a good bred dog so a teacup might be good. Vet bills and hereditary and health problems most won't live to be over 5 years old.
It is best not to get one that will machure under 2 1/2 pounds.

Yes, I can read, but apparently you can't A) think and/or B) research.
There isn't such a thing as a teacup anything. Chihuahuas come in one standard size. "Teacup" is a term used by BYBs and puppymills to describe runts. Think about it this way: someone advertises "Runty Chihuahua puppies", no one wants to buy that. Replace runty with 'teacup', and the breeder gets numerous hits from gullible people.

A chihuahua is a chihuahua no matter what the size. "Teacup" chihuahuas are what people call the tiniest of chihuahuas. But chihuahuas are chihuahuas no matter the size. If you want to get a chihuahua you can enjoy for the rest of your life get a chihuahua from a reputable breeder, preferably AKC, with a health guarantee and from a good breeding stock. If you want a chihuahua that you will have to keep at the vet for a major part of it's life, get a "teacup". They are prone to a lot of health issues.

'Teacup' chihuahuas or not, whatever the smaller breed of this dog is called it is smaller as you know, so it can be born with health defects or physical problems. It would be better for both you and the dog that you get a regular chihuahua. It's still small and what you're looking for and less expensive than a teacup breed, though still expensive.

If you are interested in the well being of a dog, do not promote buying a teacup breed. They are a genetic mutation as said above and the most small and are most common for having health problems of the types of dogs bred. If you want the dog to live long and healthy with you then buy the Chihuahua, not the teacup.

Think about would you rather 'cute and cuddly' or 'comfort and stability'.
Yes it is a small dog regardless, but when buying think about your home situation, how much attention you will be able to provide, and if you want to worry about something bad happening because of it's breeding.
