If it was the Easter Chicken wouldn't that be promoting promiscuous behavior??

Are you kidding? After laying all those colored eggs (I hear the pysanky are a real booger to do!), the poor Easter chicken is so exhausted that it can hardly move.

And we *all* know about how much, ahem -- energy those rabbits have. They're the natural choice to deliver Easter eggs!

The symbol of the rabbit at easter is due to it's pagan background of the festival of ishtar-of fertility(its why playboy's symbol is the rabbit also)
the egg also is a sign of fertility in paganism

the easter bunny has a massive harem of hens, and one tired rooster. some will tell you that he lays them himself, already decorated, but that's not true. nobody likes rabbit pellets except dogs, and we all know how dogs are about eating.

If I remember right he gathers them up. We decorate them, he gathers them, dishes them out. Kinda like Santa w/ gifts. ut I'm in my late 30's, so who knows! I can't remember it all.
