CHARLSYEH- YES we female officers have the SAME training as the males. I don't know where you got your bogus information but its time to accept the fact that we as females are just as good or BETTER than our male counterparts. I know I am.

Some women can handle the job but some cannot, most recently one of the local female officers was beaten severely by a 16 year old male that almost any male cop could have handled. It is just the nature of the Male Female thing, in Law enforcement size can matter.

1) He better keep his mouth shut about what happened -- or he will be doing his version of a woman in prison. (Interestingly, you say that this guy couldn't handle being restrained by a woman as if a woman is less than a man -- this is a contradiction that women can't be cops. See? We all have some type of gender-stereotype) ;-)
2) The story is great and I am proud of someone like that. However, sadly, it could have gone the other way and she could have been a victim. I am glad things worked out like they did.

I have worked with slackers and weaklings of both genders.
I had a male probationer almost burst into tears the first time a suspect hit him.
Not sure if it hurt his feelings or what.
Most female officers who came on the job when I did HAD to prove themselves because we were constantly being tested (harassed) by a few of our co-workers who did not want to see us succeed.
I had to meet the MALE requirement for height and weight (at that time it was 5'10") and my training officers expected me to work harder and do better than they did.
I am not crying or complaining about it, just using my example to say that the people who think that a female officer can't handle the job just because she is female are sadly mistaken.

Although I enjoyed the story...that's more the exception than the rule.
I DO think women have their place on a police force...detective work, sex crimes division, domestic violence cases, etc...but as patrol officers, I think they have physical limitations that men don't.
Then again too, I've seen some female copes who look like they could give even a BIG man a run for his money in a fight... and I've seen some male cops who are so out of shape, they don't look like they'd be of much use in a physical confrontation either

Where is the question?
I don't have a problem with policewomen. We have 3 women on our department. One is a really good officer, one is average and one is worthless. So they ran the range.
I make my judgements on someone's ability to do the job, not their gender.

i assure you that the laws requiring them to be hired are there for a reason. most wold never even be looked at if it was not for the law. they get passes where the male officers do not.they are not required to do the same training as males.they are given multiple breaks when it comes to physical activities.they is where they perform their worst and then they get a pass in training.they should be required to do the same as a male officer.if they can not do the same then they should not be hired.departments have enormous injury lists to male officer cause they get hurt trying to help the females.they should not be out in the field where another may require them to savr a partner or civilian.they just flat do not have the physical strength.my first 5 years on the job i had a female officer.scariest 5 years in my career.when it comes to the lifting and climbing the ladies do not and are not doing those events. they are given a pass.the women are just not cable of the same physical events as the males.they get to do less or get a pass.i have talked with officers in california,to michigan.to texas and states in betweencalifornia info comes from a retired himocide detective with 31 years.the michigan officer is a 31 year patrol supervisor.i did 25 years and had to retire due to a back injury. my last 12 years were spent teaching at the academy and on special assignments.at that time we had a female lt in charge of training.i watched the women doe less push ups,go around walls, and get passes in other areas. this is the same thing the other officers state.women should be stationed on the inside and not outside where lives depend on them

If push comes to shove you lack the physical ability to get in a major tussle with the average guy. Unless you are some freak she-male. How many woman play on the NFL?
Sound of crickets chirping.
