Its not bad. Sounds like you heard another folklore...
The electo-magnetic waves are confined within the microwave. Thats why a microwave can't work until the door is closed.

the only way a microwave could hurt you is if the special plate on the wall of the microwave or sometimes at the back, comes off,........or one falls on you from a great height of course!
Back when they where first out people thought they where bad, and came up with all sorts of rules! some people still have these worries!

It is not bad for your eyes, except in the rare case where you have a malfunctioning microwave.

Microwaves do not emit radiation. They use radiation to heat up food, but it is non ionizing radiation with such a low frequency that it is no more harmful to you than radio waves. They do not use UV rays, X rays, or gamma rays, which are the only types of electromagnetic radiation that can cause you any harm.

its not. its just an old wives tale. the thinking is that stray microwaves might harm your eyes.

it defintely depends on the type of microwave.... some might use ujst plain heat or some might use ultraviolet lights and stuff like that O_O im gessing not an expert

i think it's an old urban legend... i have stood and watched my food cook for decades now and i'm okay... did it while i was pregnant too, even though "they" say not to. - snopes.com might have something about it... if not, it's a fun website to look at anyway!

because the transmitted radioactive waves go through ur eyes and brain and may cause cancer.
thats why my mom never lets me stand next to the microwave when its on
