It could be possible. My friends dad had a dog and somebody gave him a kitten. After a while the dog had adopted the kitten and the kitten would follow the dog. When the cat grew up she still acted like the dog was her mother and when the dog would go and bark at someone the cat would go and growl and hiss at the person at her "mothers" side.

My cats weren't raised with dogs and they act that way, its instinct to growl when eating or it might get nicked and the same with tug of war it could easily be a real mouse. But being with a dog could have made it pick it up more, maybe because they puppy/dog being larger and scarier (to a cat) the instincts may have kicked in even more

CATS DO GROWL!!! My cats growl at my pit bull when she gets too curious and they feel like being alone! It was the weirdest thing i had ever heard, but sure enough, the cats were making this low, rumbly growl at the dog! it's natural for them to make this sound, i have heard!

I think it's possible. My cats were raised with dogs and people always comment how they come when called and greet us at the door like dogs.

yes they can growl. i have a crazy siamese that never learned to purr. so every time i pet her or give her special treats she growls her thanks. i used to be afraid of her when she did this and would quit petting her, but then i figured out that she growled with pleasure.
p.s. she has never seen a dog.
