Its a 99 explorer I just bought like 3 weeks ago, They are all done but this one. It was shattered when it came out but now I cant get the new one to thread back in, I need help..PLEASE.

Thank you very much for the info..I knew I couldnt run it like that, Just wasnt sure if the engine was done with. Never had any problems like this in the past

run a spark plug thread tap first
then use a smallhose over the plug to help you start it
go slow

You need a heliocoil kit, available at most auto supplies. There are directions on the kit, follow them.

If your car has an aluminum head, this means that the threads on the plug will easily bugger the threads on the head. Always put some oil on every plug before installing it to prevent it seizing like this in the future.

Get a thread chaser and run it into the spark plug hole slowly. Put a lot of 90 weight gear lube on the chaser to catch the metal chips to keep them from falling inside the cylinder. Do it slowly and a little at a time and you shouldn't have any problems

There is a special socket for the block treads, it's called a tread chaser. 1 end for small & 1 for larger plugs I haven't seen it at pep boys, got mine at a independant auto parts, worked awesome
