Who wrote the bible? Many different people over many generations for many different reasons. The general consensus is that the OT was written between 1200BC and 200BC. Moses supposedly wrote the Torah although this is highly debatable. The New Testament was written somewhere between 50AD and 150AD. Note that I said 50 "AD." The bible was not written while Jesus existed. It was written at least 50yrs after his death. Do you know the game Chinese whispers? Imagine that being played for 50 years...

The bible was written by humans, for humans. Or to be more succinct: The bible was written by patriarchs for patriarchs to keep women and slaves in their place. If the bible was divinely inspired it's content should be groundbreaking and ahead of its time. Based on what we know of the ancient middle east, this is not so. Evidently, "god" had the exact same values as the society inhabited by the people who wrote it. "God" also favored only one tribe - the Israelites. How conveneint that the writers happened to be from the tribe god favored...

Women were created last because, like I said, the bible was written by misogynistic patriarchs intent on dominating women. Not only were women created last, they have to suffer the insult of being created from the rib of a man. What's more, according to both the OT and NT they better keep their damn mouths shut about it, too!

2 Timothy 3:16 states that “All scripture is inspired by God….”

The first five books were written by Moses through the inspiration of God.
However, i would imagine Joshua wrote the few lines that describe the death of Moses.

Furthermore, the Bible is God’s letter to humanity.

Various authors from kings to fishermen wrote a good amount of the Bible through the inspiration of God.
Remember, some of the books contain an author where many do not, this is not a problem since a time line can be created to place authorship in a generalized manner.

Furthermore, the first bible (NT) began around AD104 through six letters of Paul.
However, i imagine Paul along with many other converts were afraid to place any authorship on any epistle/book.

Roman fear caused a multitude of grief since Christians were persecuted until AD400.

A Christian writing his/her name on a letter was like signing one's death certificate...

For those who are open-minded, I recommend the book "Who Wrote The Bible?" by Richard Elliott Friedman, published in 1987. He makes a persuasive argument that four different authors wrote various parts of the five books of Moses, and that each had identifiable agendas and writing styles. The author argues that most likely, it was the scriube Ezra who edited and redacted these various sources into the final form we now know as Torah, or the books of Moses.

I truly believe God had angels in charge of dictating every word that is written. Their job was like that of a court reporter dictating what is said by all parties in a courtroom. It was impossible for Moses or Noah or especially Adam and Eve to have logged down every word and conversation between them and Yahweh. The reason why Yahweh created humans last I believe could be a number of different reasons. One being that we were the last species of animal He learned how to create that would be able to relate to Him both mentally and physically. The other reason is that for us to survive on Earth and have domain over all other animals He had to allow the dinosaurs to become extinct and start creating the modern species of animals we see today so we can coexist on Earth with them. He prepared the Earth for humans the same way parents expecting their first child prepares their house and the baby's room before the baby is born and brought home.

The Bible is a collection of 66 books written by over 40 authors over a period of 1500+ years. According to one of the authors (and usually the author knows about who wrote his book the anyone else) it was written "by holy men as God moved them".

The five books of Moses (often called the Torah) appear to be a harmony of several different versions that reached its current form following the Babylonian Exile around 500 BC. Much of the material, such as the Mosaic Laws, date back hundreds of years.

In the creation, God prepares the earth in a logical fashion, creating an atmosphere, a stable orbit, dry land, plants to eat, and animals - all needed to support human life - before finally making man. If you read through the little detail given about the order of creation of the animals, it appears that they go from least complex to most complex. That is why woman comes over man. She is more complex, has a more internal organs, more brain connections, more hormones, and more chromosomes then a male.

Inspired writers wrote the books of the New and Old Testaments over hundreds of years. They were instruments of God, used by Him to pen the sacred texts. The bible we Christians have today is the result of a discernment by the bishops of the Catholic Church about 400 AD, at Carthage. It was at that council that they were officially canonized.

God bless and Merry Christmas.

By tradition, Moses is the legendary author of the first five books of the Bible.
Prophets wrote the Bible, for the most part. Prophets are inspired men with a link to God that allows Him to speak to the people through them.
These books were collected and made into what we know today as the Bible.
Jesus Christ was familiar with the Psalms and the Old Testament prophets....in his sermons, he often referred to passages he had read there.....

no, the bible is mans book..... Humans are animals, we evolved from them, but, men and women were made at the same time. For a species to go on, they need male and female counterparts in it. Unless you were a namek..... A bunch of old dudes were the writers of the books that you are questioning about. They made it because they believed that females were a inferior gender, just because a ladies body works differently than a guys. This was way back when there wasn't much understanding in the medical world.....

The Pentateuch (the five books of Moses are written own versions of oral traditions that cam from a number of sources. Scholars have identified a "J" or Jahwist source who referred to he Deity by that name. There is also an "E" of Elohist source you referred to God as Elohim, or Lord. There is a "P" or Priestly source who was interested in matters of sanctuary size, liturgical implements (basins, shovels, incense, etc) and a "D" or Deuteronomic source. The material from these sources as combined and arranged by nameless redactors (editors). This summary just skims the surface of the creation of the Bible. To learn more, read books by competent scholars such as Raymond Brown, who wrote "101 Questions and Answers about the Bible."
