I would buy the Savage with the AccuTrigger. The biggest downfall of inexpensive rifles is the trigger and Savage has fixed that problem with the AccuTrigger. It is one of the best triggers you can get regardless of price.

I would buy the Savage, one of the new versions with the accu-trigger. The new trigger system is awesome for a factory trigger. I currently own 3 and I love them all. The craftmanship is very good on the Savage and I have never had a Savage that wouldn't shoot really well. And the prices are not bad at all for them either, about 350-400.

Mossberg makes some nice shotguns but savage arms has them beat in the rifle department

I think savage has a good product when it come to rifles, I only have experience with mossberg when it comes to shotguns. I like their shot guns, although others do not

What more needs to be said? The Savage has the thumbs up out of those two.

The Savage is more expensive, better stock, better finish, but the Mossberg is better and more rugged in the field. It'll take a lot more punishment and keep on working.
