I would cut back on the cinnamon in the recipe, then.
When I went to Google, and typed in Cardamom substitute, I got the following information:
Or, use ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, coriander seeds or mace, starting with half the quantity specified and adding more to taste.
With the "or" before mace, it leads me to think you can substitute one of those for the cardamom. So, if you already have cinnamon in your recipe, find one of the other choices to use and keep your cinnamon the same. If one of them isn't already in your recipe, use it.
