RE:
I don't have baking soda for Toll House Cookies. Can I substitute something?
I thought about using baking powder but I don't know if it's a good idea.

I NEVER use baking soda even if the recipe calls for it. To me it leaves a bad aftertaste.
Baking powder is not the same, so don't substitute.
If you don't have the baking soda, I say just go on without it and I wouldn't be surprised if you also decide you will never use it again.

I don't think there is a substitute for baking soda.
You just might have to eat the chocolate chips alone....or go to the store.

All purpose flour does not have baking soda. I am making Chocolate Chip cookies and I just leave out the baking soda. Has never hurt my cookies

You really can't substitute baking soda. It's really important because it causes baked goods to rise and/or brown.
Sorry!
You could try replacing your all-purpose flour with self-rising flour, though.
Good luck and happy baking! =)

It's probably the best substitute since both are leavening agents

Do you have any baking powder? It will do in a pinch since there is baking soda in the baking powder.
