Honestly; it depends on the year. look on the ends of the radio; if there is 2 small hole on each end then you need the tool. or even try a coathanger. bend it in the shape of a U and insert it into the holes. you need a tool on the left and right. pull gently on the tools and out it comes!

no my father 1964 didn't use tools only a flat head screw driver

what year is yours 1965 or 2010 ?
