Sounds like a classic case of Roseola, also known as fifth's disease. Basically it's a viral infection that causes a really high fever, then a couple days later, the kid breaks out in a rash for a day or two. Totally harmless, as long as the rash and fever go away. Most kids get it by the time they are 3. If any of the symptoms persist or if the fever spikes really high and you can't get it down, see a doctor.

Scarlet fever maybe? Did he have a sore throat first? Bring him to the doctor! 4 days is way too long for a fever!!

the fever and rash could be seperate things going on at once. fever could have started from flu or something then rash could be something he might be allergic to thats why it would have came and gone so quickly.
