First thing we need to know is film or digital? Specific make and model and memory card type if it's a digital. Sometimes things can be saved when you least expect it but we need more details to give you an answer. Unless the warranty specifically covers accidental dropping or emersion coverage it is doubtful this will be covered under normal manufacturers warranty. Virtually anything is repairable if your willing to spend enough... unless it's a Leica it probably isn't worth it... :-). I'll check back later for details. Thanks!
Edit: Try the desicant gel trick from one of the other uses suggested. If that don't work try to save the memory card but the camera is not worth saving. Might we recommend an Olympus Stylus 740 which is shock proof from 5 foots falls and water resistant up to 10 feet. And yes we have proven it personally. Good luck!

Open every door on the camera, remove the batteries and memory card, and let the camera set in a warm, dry place for several days. Once all the circuitry dries out, the camera might work again. But there is a very strong possibility that the camera is ruined. If so, the warranty won't cover damage due to negligence.

You can try placing it in a sealed bag with a ton of desiccant,( the little packets you find in new shoe boxes, or buy in bulk from your local camera shop) that might do it, however I seriously doubt you can save it if it soaked overnight. There's a big difference between jumping in the pool with it in your pocket, and soaking it for an extended period of time.
Look on the bright side, if you have a fish tank, you can put it in there, minus the batteries, and really freak people out...

Your camera is obviously dead...there is no way that it could be resuscitated after spending a whole night in water...it cannot be fixed, and the warranty does not cover mis-use.
Your friend (?) owes you a new camera. I can't believe how thoughtless this supposed friend is. She's blonde, perhaps..lol

WOW! Ok, Remove the SD card if any if you haven't done this as well as take the batteries out and drained it completely, allow all the water to come out.
Now with a small towel dry and wipe everything within reach to you. Get some Q-tips and dry out the battery compartment, and every place you can but without living any cotton fibers behind.
Get a bucket, and filled out half way with salt, dry, very dry salt, and set up inside a stand away from the salt but inside the bucket. place your Camera there(make sure no salt get in contact with your camera), and close the bucket as sealed as you can to prevent outside moisture in the bucket. The salt will extract the moisture from the inside air, and hopefully from inside the camera as well. live it there 24 hours.
Next day, repeat the operation of wiping out outside the camera. place new batteries on it, crossed fingers and all... good luck.
Happy Holidays.

Time to buy a new camera - and maybe find a more responsible friend.

Sounds like it's a goner. I don't think it's repairable.
