I'm posting on R&S for more realistic answers first.
I'm not religious, but I care.
Albeit there for the Grace of God go I.
.. Though probably soon.
Whilst I don't want sympathy, I'd like your opinions and details on any assistance, if any, that you contribute to helping life's casualties.

Edit ; Some fantastic answers here, and some honest one's too like Cheryle gave.
I do care, but I won't choose a best answer on this one.
My next question is a little bit more political if you care to search.

Yes, and that is also a very good reminder.

Well, actions have always talked louder than words.

Volunteer to serve a Holiday meal at a shelter;
Donate a decorated tree and some presents to a family who otherwise would not have a Christmas;
Go visit a nursing home or Residential facility for the aged - put on a Santa hat, buy some candy canes....sit and talk with these forgotten ones;
Give a warm blanket to a street person;
Buy a sandwich and cup of coffee for him/her.

Lots of things one can do to remember those less fortunate.

Oh great idea. Pray for the homeless. God forbid people should go out and HELP them in person. You might get cooties. Praying is really gonna keep them warm and put food in their bellies. My husband and I contribute food and items to the local shelters and missions all year round, not just at Christmas. The idea that this is the only time of year you have to care about the less fortunate makes me want to puke.

I do pray for the homeless and the single lonely people during the holidays especially.

My church (myself included) help out at local food pantries throughout the year and various shelters for the homeless too.

May God bless you and keep you safe from harm. Merry Christmas

The gods lift those who lift each other. I don't pray to GOD to help people when I could be doing right by them myself. I give money and time to help people less fortunate because that is what GOD has commanded, to love thy neighbour as one loves thyself.

I would agree with Larissa that prayer is a private matter, even Jesus said that people who brag about praying get their reward from those who hear them on Earth and not with GOD.

I also wanted to say that the person who thumbs-downed Trina for actually giving to the poor instead of being a lazy bastard bothering GOD to do something about it while they are comfortable in their own home is a total asshole.

Prayer accompanied with action.

Support the Union Gospel Mission and Child sponsorship charities to help both in the US and abroad.

Its really strange how many people assume that if we pray, its all we do. I do not normally talk about what I do charitably, but I will to set the record straight that prayer does not equal inaction.

I sponsor three children, one for each of the children God has blessed me with. Through the sponsorship they receive food, education, clothes, AND the gospel. This is ongoing, all year long.

I support homeless shelters.

I give to the food bank.

I give to Ronald McDonald House

I give to the Salvation Army

I give an additional 10% to my Church, which in turns reaches out to the community.

I give my time to a Crisis Pregnancy Center.

AND I PRAY.

Yes I do.. and those who dont , dont have a heart. Sure I pray for the homeless those who dont have a warm place to go and not any food..YOU know God has a plan for those who are homeless, and that's to make some of us with plenty to know what they have might not be around long if we have a cold heart. We are all humans and we should share with what we have for those down trodden..If we take signs away from our hearts what do we do if we are in their well worn shoes one day? FOr us is to appreciate what we have and give those that who have nothing. Thanks M.. for the well thought of question.

I am homeless. I got nothing for Christmas..only prayers.
Can prayers give me shelter from the cold tonight?
For you people who gave me thumbs down, try being on the streets..outside in the cold for one night and if you survive I will kiss yoiur toes. One of my friends got frozen to death on Thanksgiving day.
The Homeless in Denver do get lots of prayers and preachers are always telling us ////may god bless you; but if you are truly a christian you will see that Jesus commands Christians to care for each other...if you have two coats give the homeless one. The homeless do not need your prayers,,they can pray for themselves..in fact most of them spend nearly all day praying; what we need is practical help...not money, not liquor, not food...we need a job..we need a small start..then we can take it from there.
Every day I pray to God that no one would have to go through the horrors that I have been through and all you happy, rich, lucky folks should also pray that you would always have a home...and a loving family.

To give is better than to receive...I care about life.....everyone has an opinion as to where their religion came from..My family...Other sources..yes I don't believe in going to church every week...to be a good person you have to love yourself...if I could do more good I would, but to harm someone, NO.
