Read it all. I use county water and I'm drinking county water. I took one quart and heated it up in the microwave for four minutes. I let it sit in the refrigerator in a pitcher for a couple of hours. I am now drinking the water but the water still smells like it has a little bit of chlorine in it. Is it safe to drink chlorinated water your whole life? How can I completely get rid of the chlorine? I heard that chlorine kills bacteria and germs but it also said that drinking chlorinated water causes certain types of cancers. If you tell me to boil the water, how many minutes in the microwave does it take to boil the water? Is it safe?

Chlorinated water isn't the best thing to drink all the time, but it's mostly because of smell and the 'off' taste. The amout of chlorine is a very tiny amount per million parts of water. You cannot boil chlorine out of water.
Chlorine is a great chemical that can help us (bleach clothes, sanitze surfaces etc) or kill us when it's concentrated.
Get one of those Brita pitchers or Pur water sytems. It will remove the chlorine and other icky things that make your water taste bad.
