Jesus was born in April - during Spring time when "lambs" are born, not on the December winter solstice - the darkest time of the year.
Historians have sited the birth of Jesus between 20th - 25th April, according to the time of the taxes when all had to return to their home-towns to pay them.

Dear pagreen
Using evidence from the Gospels themselves; many scholars believe that Jesus was really born in the Autumn.
The Gospel accounts tell of shepherds watching flocks in fields at night. In the Holy Land this suggests the Autumn ; as the fields are too cold to be manned in the Winter.
The political setup described in the Gospels suggests about 7 BC for the year.
A reason why Christmas is celebrated on Dec. 25th lies in the fact that it grew up in the Roman Empire, and the Romans were already celebrating the pagan Die Sol Invictus on Dec. 25th. When another religeon supplants a pre existing one it often adapts festivals already being celebrated for its own use.
I don't think we need to be looking at any time in Dec. 25th "p a"
Cheers!!!
The Mac!!

Only 2 reasonably correct answer out of 22 so far.
The actual date of Christ;'s birth is not known for certain, even less the time at which he was born.
However, the date of December 25th is probably a result of people trying to work out when he was born based on estimates of the date of his death combined with some beliefs about how long he would have been on the earth.
There is no evidence that it was based on any pagan festivals - that is just neo-pagan mythology

The actual birth of Jesus is very unlikely to have been December 25. However, in order to convert the pagans, christians placed the date of Jesus's birth at the time of the pagan Soltice/Yule festival. This was done so that the pagans could still have their big festival at Mid-Winter, but now celebrate what the christians wanted. I've heard something recently that is has been deducted that Jesus was actually born in September.

He wasn't born on the 25th!! He was born in the spring, but the date was chosen by the church centuries ago to coincide with the a pagan festival to stop pagans practising and convert to christianity. I thought everyone knew that! The whole notion of christ's birthday at christmas is a nonsense.

Jesus wasn't born in the winter. They celebrated his birthday on the 25th because it coincided with the already-established pagan celebration of the birth of the sun god.

He was not born in Dec. 25th, He was born on Passover, and that would be between the end of March and the beginning of April. But Dec. 25 is the birthday of Him enemy. Here is the history; Nimrod(Ninus)the third from Noah,he founded the country of Babylon and built its city's, as well as the tower of Babel. He was the first deified human after the flood(and upon his untimely death the Chaldean priests told the people that his soul went up into the heavens and took possession of the sun) . He had a queen,Semiramis, who was the most beautifulest and wisest woman on earth ( all the women were envious of her and emulated her), she was the second deified human(and upon her death the Chaldean priests told the people that her soul went up into the heavens and took possession of the moon). Well after the untimely death of Nimrod she became pregnant, and she told the people that when she was worshiping the rising sun, that a beam of light played upon her stomach and she became pregnant with Nimrods child. That child's name was Tammuz(and upon his untimely death the Chaldean priests told the people that his soul went up into the heavens and took possession of the morning star) he was born in Dec. 25, about 2000 years before Christ, and yes pagans (as well as Israelites at times) worshiped him on that day. So, there you have the birthday of Tammuz and the trinity.
