Gods aren't very big on the "sorry". They know it's just a word. They expect you to take responsibility for your actions. You screwed up, tough. Now try to repair the damage you did and make sure next time you don't do the same mistake again.
A little offering like the one Frau Hunter described is of course always welcome, you can't get it wrong with something like that. But don't treat it as an indulgence. The sin-penance scheme is a christianity thing. It doesn't quite go like that with the Norse gods.

Take a good bottle of import beer or ale, a small glass of milk and some bread. Go out to a tree, say you're sorry and that you honor them. Pour out the liquid at the base of the tree (or over some stones) and leave the bread as an offering.

Don't worry too much about it after that. It takes a LOT to get their attention and brass them off for long.

If you truly believe this then you know how to do the penance. If you truly are sorry, then whatever you think is sufficient will appease them. It's the belief that counts, not what you do. But if you believe you must make sacrifice, then there's no getting away from it. Your heart will tell you, just like believers in any religion.

pagans don't worship the norse gods. but a sacrifice would help, or a toast to them and a good sing song.
You can drink out of the sculls of your enemies if you don't have any spare glasses.

>If you are truly sorry, they already know it...if you aren't and are just being a jerk please stay at least 40 feet away from small children and puppies for a week or two.<
