Seriously, though, almost EVERYTHING gets more expensive year after year----if you ever hear somebody use the word 'inflation' when they are talking about price increases, this is the kind of thing they are mentioning. For example, the going rate for a horse in the 1840s United States was usualy about 30-55 dollars. Then again, this was a period of time where even very financially secure poeple might make what today would be considered practoically near the poverty level.

Dining out should be for special occasions especially when you are talking about an entire family. Making meals at home is not only cheaper but healthier. You can make stews, soups, or chili and lasagnas or casseroles. There are plenty of choices when you are cooking at home from scratch rather than eating out.
