Why do Jesus say, " I am the way, the truth and the light, no man can come unto the Father, but by me" ?

What do you mean "why"? The reason is because we weren't making it on our own to Heaven, because "all have sinned and fallen short" so we had to have someone come take our places. But you have to BELIEVE that Jesus took our place, or then the whole thing doesn't work. You have to believe God loves us enough to send Jesus to die in our place. That's why he's "the way, the truth, and the light."

God knows everything, there is nothing that He does not know. So, when He conceived the idea of creation He knew that we would sin, and because God can not die, He needed a substitute for us as well as Himself. So God begot Micheal and through Him created everything, then He(Micheal) became Jesus, who is and always has been the only way to the Father. Jesus/Michael is the only begotten son of the Father. He is the beginning of the creation of God. Through Him God has communion with us. If it were no so then we would not even exist. Because we would have to stand before a Holy God, who does not tolerate disobedience. (I am just trying to make a long answer short.)

Because Jesus is the 'kinsman redeemer ', 'the Lord has become my Salvation' promised from the Old Testament.
A righteous man who gave up all suffered the punishment for sin; which is death, so that unrighteous men could claim peace with God, while we are yet sinners.
Those who God wants will have the capability to respond to this truth. They will be able to respond to Jesus through the message of the Gospel.

Well to add to what has been said: God created Adam, right and then Eve but then sin came into the picture and you know one thing God hates? SIN and it separated as from him. (get a Bible and read Isaiah 59:2) But you see, God loved us so much; i mean, we were His creation and by all means if you created something you would love that thing, won't you. Anyway, He wanted all this separation, that sin had caused, to end somewhere and the only way he could do that was to take away the sin. But to take away or remove our sin, blood needed to be shed (read Hebrews 9:22). So he needed to sacrifice something or in this case someone so that blood could be shed and consequently, sin removed thereby breaking the separation. Therefore he sent his son to die to shed his blood to take away our sin. The bottom line is: It was only jesus Christ who died to take away the sins of the whole world including you and me. Therefore he is the only way. Through his death we have gained salvation (which means being saved from the effects of sin). Salvation is a gift from God and its only when we accept this gift that we can get to the father or get to heaven. No one but Jesus is worthy enough to come to the Father, So we have to pray to Jesus so that he will go to father God with Our prayers, The truth is His wisdom of words of the Holy Bible, Only though Him will we speak to God. Their was Adam, then Noah , Then His only Son Jesus was sent to save us. God told His Son Jesus the only way they can get to me is through you. Who is Light, so bright of light we cant look own Him any more, but fill His spirit, God gives us Gifts, only if we ask for them, One of them is The speaking in unknown tongues, the other is to interpret what they have said, my favorite one is where when you read his wisdom of the Bible you can understand, one of my worst favorite if you have the gift to understand his wisdom of the Bible you are to let it know, So much hate towards the Lord, and so many are blinded to His wisdom, but I am one who understand with wisdom He has given me the wisdom to understand. to not fear, because He promises me He is in control read to find out what the other are, if you dont have one of them then you dont carry Gods spirit or light he tells you this.., I am the way, that means that only through Him will you go to heaven, my words are the truth, and i will not miss lead you if you call own me. and the only way you will see God is through Jesus God is Light...He is so bright of light you can not look own Him....God the Father God the son and God the Holy spirit..

That's the way God decided it. He makes the rules, not us. He also decides which way the earth spins and what color the bluebird is. If you ever get to heaven you can ask Him.
