Change of food will help. There might be something he is eating that he is allergic to.

What do you feed?

Depends what the cause of the itch is, and we can't tell you what the cause is over the internet!

Applying all this stuff won't be helping his skin, especially the peroxide. You have to consider that it may well be fleas, if you're not using a proper flea treatment i.e one from a vets. Bathing will not get rid of fleas. Wait 48 hours after bathing in anything, then comb the dog thoroughly with a flea comb, especially around armpits, groin and belly - you're looking for black specks on the comb, which are flea dirts (poos).

Get proper flea treatment from the vets, at the least. There are many possible causes for itching however; allergies, hormonal probs, skin infections. You'll have to get the dog seen by a vet if you really want to find out.

i work in a grooming salon and my advice would be to cut down bathing to only once a month, use a hydrocortizone shampoo, or a hypoallerginic shampoo when you wash him. You can use a leave in hydrocortizone lotion after the bath as well. there are hydrocortozone sprays you can use in between baths... he probrably just has dry skin, but i would take him to a vet to make sure it is not an allergy :) The vet can also recommend a shampoo to use for him... i recommend using and oatmeal or aloe vera based shampoo

What about taking a crowbar, prying open your wallet, and TRYING A VET!!!

Your dog could be suffering from food allergies, or toxins in his environment. A VET can do the necessary test to try to identify the problem. Stop being cheap and tinkering with home remedies which obviously haven't worked and GET YOUR DOG TO THE VET! It is his RIGHT by law to receive proper medical care and to deny it is neglect and abuse. So stop wasting time talking to strangers on the internet while your dog is suffering and get going!

You need to take your dog to the vet to get a proper diagnosis, so they can prescribe the proper treatment. An itchy dog could have allergies, skin mites, ring worm, bacterial skin infection... It will save you and your dog a lot of grief to just visit your veterinarian.

**Just treating the itching, without actually curing the problem, is just masking the problem. You would be dealing with this for the rest of your dog's life. If you just take your dog to the vet, they can find out what is wrong, prescribe a treatment, and you both will be a lot happier.

I agree sounds like an allergie... or mites... you need to change the dogs situation... maybe change the dogs bedding, or get your carpet steam cleaned... if its an allergie try a different dry food, my dog is allergic to grass... crazy as it is... and so we have to keep our grass short so when he goes to play/poo/wee in the yard the grass isnt long enough to tickle his belly... maybe their is something in your house he's allergic to... an old rug?? well any way... you cnat treat the dog if you dont treat the environment as nothing will get better until you do both... good luck :)

Benadryl may help, but changing food and adding omega fatty acids might work better. Give it some time to work ie. 2-4 weeks.

Do you want to cure the dog or just stop the itching? To just stop the itching, you can go to your vet & get some medicated shampoo. Or, powder with gold bond. Or, dip in vinegar.
To cure the dog, well, that would probably be a diet & nutrition issue and I don't think that's really the question ... I think you really just want to stop the itching?
